I’ve been using my Kobo Libra H20 for a couple of years and really love it as an ebook reader. Way better and cheaper than the Kindle! But how do I check for system updates from Kobo and apply them if needed?

My brother’s a writer and sent me an “MOBI” version of his next book. I would like to read it on my Kindle Paperwhite. How can I most easily send the document to myself to read? Also, how do I check to see if my Kindle needs any updates?
I have a new Amazon Kindle and was trying to connect it to the wifi network at Starbucks without success. How do I connect to a wifi network with a login screen, or am I just out of luck at Starbucks? It’s a Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition, if that makes any difference.
My brother is a writer and just sent me a copy of his latest book. In PDF format. Which I can’t read on my Kindle. Is there a way to convert it into a Kindle-friendly file on my iMac? Thanks.
I have a new Amazon Kindle and have figured out how to get to the books on the Prime Reading List each month, but how can I actually buy new ebooks and copy them onto the Kindle?
I like to copy PDF documents from work onto my Kindle Paperwhite to read, rather than staring at a computer screen, and it works great. Except the document names are awful! Is there a way to rename PDF docs on the Kindle?
I have a Rakuten Kobo ebook reader, the Libra H2O, and really like it. I’m wondering, though, how can I force check for a system or firmware update? I don’t see any obvious options or controls…
I don’t know what’s wrong, but when I try to access my Kindle library in the Kindle app for my iMac, I see tiny little book covers and a couple of columns of information that are just one or two letters long. Why don’t I see book covers so I can tell which is which?
