cta techlicious lunch and learn, denver co

I head to Las Vegas every January for a massive technology and electronics circus known as CES (yes, that stands for the Consumer Electronics Show but they much prefer the acronym). It’s massive. I mean, it’s more massive than you can imagine; over 180,000 people attended the show this year, with over 4,500 vendors exhibiting their wares in booths ranging from a closet to a football field in a total exhibition space of 2.7 million square feet…

Yeah, I own it, I’m a geek and am a big fan of both Star Wars and Star Trek. Uh oh, did I say something wrong? 🙂

Yesterday was a good day to be a Star Wars fan too: It was Force Friday II, and lots of companies introduced cool new gadgets, gear and toys tied to the Star Wars universe. To catch the latest and greatest, I headed to Best Buy. Here’s my field report…

ces 50 years celebration signage 2017

January begins the same way, year after year. For over a decade, I’ve had the opportunity to travel with the Ask Dave Taylor team to CES, the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas. Some assume I attend for the parties and although that is true, it’s so much more than that. It’s my time to dive deep into the latest technology trends, reconnect with some old friends and get to know potential clients. I’ve been fortunate to spend time with some of the smartest people in our industry at CES, debating the future of the latest trends, while reviewing some of the coolest gizmos and gadgets that have come to market. Every year brings new challenges, new opportunities and stories to tell. This year was no different.

promaxbda 2015 conference report

The worlds of media and entertainment are evolving faster than ever before, nowhere is this more apparent than in the broadcast industry. As streaming media services mature, young artists create strong communities on YouTube or other services and fewer people tune into traditional television, broadcast content, programing has to evolve to stay relevant and maintain their position in this complex market and this is what the PromaxBDA conference was all about.

new media expo nmx logo las vegasPart of keeping up on the industry is attending trade shows. I actually think that every professional should be attending trade shows and conventions in their area of expertise at least once a year, whether they’re smaller local events or large national or global events.

In the tech business, the biggest conference is the Consumer Electronics Show and we always have a strong presence at CES each year, helping plan our editorial calendar and efforts for the remainder of the year.

ces 2015 consumer electronics show field test: withings activite pop watch motion fitness tracker

Finding a taxicab during #CES2015, the Consumer Electronic show in Las Vegas is virtually impossible. One might try, but they’ll be standing around for at least a hour. After 9 years attending the show, I’ve realized it’s just easier and I prefer to walk. I’ll walk anywhere in Las Vegas under 3 miles and have always thought that added up to about 8 to 12 miles a day. However, family and friends questioned that I was walking that many miles until this year, and now I have the proof.

The health industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. As the business grows and we add this vertical to our areas of interest at AskDaveTaylor, we will be attending a variety of upcoming medical device and health focused conventions this year.

Most recently I attended HRS, the Health Rhythm Society, with a colleague, Ben Kinsella, who has been in the medical simulation industry for the past decade. The show is focused on the industry niche of heart medical devices in use with Electrophysiology. It featured more than 8,000 attendees, 250 educational sessions, and more than 130 exhibitors showcasing innovative products and services within the industry.

Heart Rhythm 2013 builds on years of operations and brings together the globe’s most noted experts to explore advancements and network in the cardiac arrhythmia field.

Trip Report: The Consumer Electronics Show 2013

January 16, 2013 / Gary Moskoff / Trade Show News & Updates / No Comments

Traveling to the Consumer Electronic Show, CES this year was different. This is my sixth year attending my favorite convention of the year, every year! With over 155,000 attendees this year’s convention was the busiest I have ever attended and not for the claustrophobic industry expert or consumer. ..
