promaxbda 2015 conference report

The worlds of media and entertainment are evolving faster than ever before, nowhere is this more apparent than in the broadcast industry. As streaming media services mature, young artists create strong communities on YouTube or other services and fewer people tune into traditional television, broadcast content, programing has to evolve to stay relevant and maintain their position in this complex market and this is what the PromaxBDA conference was all about.

ces 2015 consumer electronics show field test: withings activite pop watch motion fitness tracker

Finding a taxicab during #CES2015, the Consumer Electronic show in Las Vegas is virtually impossible. One might try, but they’ll be standing around for at least a hour. After 9 years attending the show, I’ve realized it’s just easier and I prefer to walk. I’ll walk anywhere in Las Vegas under 3 miles and have always thought that added up to about 8 to 12 miles a day. However, family and friends questioned that I was walking that many miles until this year, and now I have the proof.

The health industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. As the business grows and we add this vertical to our areas of interest at AskDaveTaylor, we will be attending a variety of upcoming medical device and health focused conventions this year.

Most recently I attended HRS, the Health Rhythm Society, with a colleague, Ben Kinsella, who has been in the medical simulation industry for the past decade. The show is focused on the industry niche of heart medical devices in use with Electrophysiology. It featured more than 8,000 attendees, 250 educational sessions, and more than 130 exhibitors showcasing innovative products and services within the industry.

Heart Rhythm 2013 builds on years of operations and brings together the globe’s most noted experts to explore advancements and network in the cardiac arrhythmia field.

MyCharge Peak 6000 Extra iPhone Battery Review

January 29, 2013 / Gary Moskoff / Articles, Tutorials, and Reviews, iPhone & iOS Help / No Comments

iphone-battery-packI purchased my iPhone 5 just before the New Year on December 29th. I was so excited and still love my new phone, but after using it for a week or so, I knew I was going to need some help getting through my favorite convention, CES, the Consumer Electronic Show.
It is amazing how Las Vegas runs down any mobile phone. Phones simply die much faster out there. I always practice my ABC’s, Always Be Charging, but I knew that was going to be next to impossible during CES. CES is a marathon. I’m on the move for the four days, running from meeting to meeting, checking out new products, talking with developers, manufacturers and listening to speeches. There’s just no time to plug in and charge.

Trip Report: The Consumer Electronics Show 2013

Traveling to the Consumer Electronic Show, CES this year was different. This is my sixth year attending my favorite convention of the year, every year! With over 155,000 attendees this year’s convention was the busiest I have ever attended and not for the claustrophobic industry expert or consumer. ..

Review: Brenthaven Prostyle Courier Bag

October 11, 2012 / Gary Moskoff / Articles, Tutorials, and Reviews / No Comments

Since I purchased my MacBook Air, I have been looking for a bag that could carry my computer, an iPad and a few additional necessities, an extra charger for my phone and computer, and my three way power plug adapter.
Everywhere I looked, I was disappointed! I shopped online, at department stores, luggage stores, you name it. I visited the Apple Store to find the perfect match for my favorite possession, but found that bags were too big, or too small, ugly and/or easily compromised by weather.
I settled for an inferior computer bag and watched it continue to wither away, at times carrying an umbrella with me just to ensure I was prepared for anything, protecting my computer bag at all costs. Then I stumbled upon the Brenthaven’s Prostyle 13″ Courier bag which is the perfect mix of form and function, stylish, and I’m confident my computer is always protected from the elements.

Conference Report: SXSW 2012

May 1, 2012 / Gary Moskoff / Trade Show News & Updates / No Comments

Conference report by contributing editor Gary Moskoff…
South by Southwest, SXSW, the original un-conference, is like nothing I have experienced before.
This was my first year attending and I was warned that it was going to be something different. To truly experience the conference, many said to follow the @SXSWparty feed on twitter and that I’d find all the parties, but that was not the case. One had to really think outside the box and do a lot of research to find the right parties to attend.
For instance, one of my favorites included the Skype party, a mix of bands and DJ’s performed, the party itself was a lot of fun, but I was most impressed by the way they included the audience in the show by live streaming individuals dancing around the perimeters of the show and then using the imagery in real time on the big screen as visuals to enhance the overall experience for all to enjoy. I also enjoyed the Warner Brothers show where LP and the Punch Brothers stole the show for me!
