Dave, what’s on your PowerBook? What cool apps do you have that I should know about? What Dashboard widgets? Etc. etc etc.

Dave, I would like to use an environmental variable to change directories and included files into vim on Mac OS Tiger. I’ve found that this works:
export pm=”/volumes/Macintosh HD/Documents/pmwiki”
for shell commands, but then I have to use something like: cd “$pm”
Is there a better way which doesn’t require the double quotes? Also, is there some interaction with the PATH variable?
Dave, I’m now running the slick new Mac OS X Tiger operating system from Apple, and amy trying to get up to speed with the RSS reader built into the new version of Safari. Very nice, but… it doesn’t seem to know that my Weblogs have RSS feeds! How do I tweak my blog so Safari can see the feed and offer a one-button subscription for Tiger users?
Dave, as far as I know, I get a new IP address every time I connect to the Internet with my Apple PowerBook. How do I figure out what address I’ve been assigned?
Dave, do tell, when are we unwashed masses going to be able to enjoy the goodness that will be Mac OS X 10.4, aka “Tiger”?
Dave, I’m thrilled, I just got a new Mac Mini to dip my toe into the world of Macintosh (I’m a long-time Windows user) and I’m wondering what applications you recommend I add to the unit to make it maximally useful?
Hi, I would to know if recording AND EDITING recordings (cut and recompose audio-video from TV and the Internet) through products like those of EyeTV is technically in reach of the average teacher without in depth knowledge of capturing and editing streaming video, for example. It is an issue for me as I would like to use more existing material on the Internet and TV for teaching purposes, which involves restructuring content.
Dave, there are a couple of people who send me email, and, consistently, their attachments don’t show up as neat “foo.doc” or “report.xls” but as the generic attachment winmail.dat. They don’t know why and I don’t know why. Worse, as a Mac user, I can’t figure out what to do with them. What’s causing these “winmail.dat” files and how do I decode ’em?
