How do I create a group in Google Gmail?

August 26, 2006 / Dave Taylor / Computer & Internet Basics / 29 Comments

I’ve been a long-time fan of Google’s Gmail and have particularly enjoyed how it pops up with possible email addresses when you type in the first few characters. I’m now finding that I frequently email a half-dozen people, however, and it’s rather a pain to type in each name. Is there some way to make a simple alias that will include all of these folk when I send mail in Gmail?

Can Google’s Gmail Play MP3 Music Files?

August 25, 2006 / Dave Taylor / Computer & Internet Basics / 8 Comments

I get a lot of music from friends via email and it’s a huge pain to have to download them from Yahoo Mail, save them on my computer, then launch a player to hear them. I heard that Google’s Gmail service has a better solution. Do they, and if so, how does that work?

Can I zap addresses from my Gmail auto-complete list?

February 11, 2006 / Dave Taylor / Computer & Internet Basics / 42 Comments

One thing I find really irritating about Gmail is that once you have used an email address (as recipient for your message), this address is stored forever, in some place where you cannot access it. I.e., it does not show up in your contacs. But whenever I start typing an email address as recipient, this list with addresses I once used keeps being showed. I want rid of these old addresses! Do you know how to do that?
