Hi. Someone put two photos in my photo section on Facebook as pictures of me. They are supposed to be a game labeled who’s glancing thru your profile or some to that effect but they don’t work. The real problem is they’ve ruined my photo page. People click on my photos and that’s all they see. Facebook people tell me all I have to do is click on untag photo by my name but there is no tag. I suspect it is on her computor.
If a photo is accessible through your “photos” link then it should mean that it’s either a photo you uploaded or a photo where you’ve been tagged or highlighted by someone else. As I have experienced more than once on Facebook, you can also be tagged in a photo where you’re not actually in the photo, as a way for that person to draw your attention to an image. I see those as sort of photo tagging spam, actually.
If you uploaded the photo, you can definitely delete it pretty easily, but it sounds like your friend has tagged you in one of their pics, in which case it cannot be deleted, but you can remove the tag.
Here’s how you do that.
First off, you probably got a notification when you were tagged in the photo, a la:
When I select that particular notification, I am taken to the photo:
It’s a bit hard to see, but on the lower left appears my name, along with “photos” and “remove tag” as links within parenthesis. When I move the cursor over my name, it shows where in the photo my friend has highlighted, e.g., where I appear:
Ha! Last I checked I wasn’t a shed, so I’m going to remove this tag by clicking on “remove tag”:
Without any confirmation dialog or anything, it promptly removes the tag and the lower left corner suddenly no longer has my name showing:
That’s all there is to it, whether a photo is tagged with a dozen people or just you. Once you do that, there should be no path to the photo from people clicking on your “View Photos of Me” link on your Facebook profile.
Good luck!
how do I remove myself off someone else’s gmail chat?
Hi Dave,
We created an app for this (untagging on Facebook) you might want to check out. It allows you to see all the images you are tagged in in one view on your iPhone.
WAY easier than doing it on Facebook, which in my opinion is a pain. Here’s a link (it’s free) . We’d love to hear what you think. http://weavermobile.com
By the way the app does a lot of other cool things to help you manage your Facebook photos and apply effects too.
I tried to untag myself on Face book in a photo that my friend tagged me in..but when I click on “remove tag” that is by my name, it will not remove it. What else can I do to remove it?
thnx a lot david
My friends photos are appearing on my facebook page. I am not tagged in any of them and there is no option to remove them. They are driving me nuts. Any way to remove them and stop them from appearing. They are not spam tagged as some are from my son who would definitely not have tagged his mother in a photo.
