It actually is Talk Like a Pirate Day, Sept 19, and there really is a way to get Facebook to switch to “Pirate” — actually “English (Pirate)” — as the language of choice. Who would have thought?
So you’re in luck, ye old sea dog, you!
There’s a fast way to switch languages in Facebook if you’re quick enough to catch the footer of your page before it automatically fills in more information, pushing it further down. It’s like a really annoying game of ‘catch the fly’. You’ll see.
To start, scroll down to the bottom of the page on Facebook and look for your current language setting:
Wait just a few seconds and *boom!* it’s moved down a few pages and more of your newsfeed has appeared. Fun, eh?
Scroll down again and this time as soon as you see the word “English”, click on it! Now a big window will pop up with all the major language choices available:
Don’t want to play catch-the-link with Facebook and your Web browser? Smart lad, ye are, maybe der ain’t no reason for ye to walk the plank after all….
Instead, click on “Account Settings” on the top right:
