My buddy who has a Pixel 5 showed me how he can set it up so that it listens and identifies songs even while the screen’s locked. I’m jealous! Is there any way to do something similar on my iPhone with Shazam or some other music ID app?

There’s a song which was probably out about three years ago. A lot of the lines begin ‘when the’. It is a male singer and I’ve got this feeling it was used on the ITV talent shows, but whether it was just popular to be used at that time I’m not sure. I thought it might be someone like Bruno Mars but it doesn’t seem to be. When I hear the song, I cannot make out the lyrics, so cannot do a typical search. I know that the word ‘snow’ comes up and the phrase ‘never gonna’. This is driving me nuts – any help or ideas appreciated.
I usually work in coffee shops around the five boroughs and there’s often great music playing. Is there some way I can discretely identify the songs with an app on my MacBook Air?
There’s a lot to learn with modern phones and the Google Pixel 3 is no different. The more I spend fiddling with mine, the more cool new features and capabilities I find. Many of which are unique to the Pixel line. My favorite so far? Now Playing. It ID’s all the music you hear, right on your lock screen…
