You said in an earlier article that only Android users can set recurring alarms. I think you’re wrong, Dave. Have another look at iOS on your iPhone and check it out!
Ah heck, you’re right. You can’t modify an existing alarm in iOS on your Apple iPhone to make it recurring, but you can indeed create a brand new alarm in the Clock app that includes a variety of different repeating options, whether it’s that it recurs every weekday, every Monday, or even every Sunday morning! Where I tripped up is that I haven’t created a new alarm on my iPhone 6 in months: I just keep tweaking the time of the existing alarm to meet my needs. Mea culpa!
So let’s jump onto the iPhone and look at how to create a recurring alarm, just like you can do on an Android phone!
To start, launch the Clock app, and make sure you tap on “Alarm” on the bottom row. You’ll end up with something like this:
Here I have two alarms already set, but to get to the recurring alarm feature, we’ll need to create a new alarm.
Easily done, tap on “+” on the top right.
You can fine tune the time, that’s easy, but let’s look at all the options below. Specifically, “Repeat”.
Tap on “Repeat” to see the iOS options:
Well, gosh, there ya go. Lots of options!
I’ve already picked every weekday – just a few taps – so I’m going to tap on Back to get back to the alarm setup screen.
This time, tap on “Label” to change the name of the alarm:
You can see that I’m giving it the peppy name of Wake Up!
Mnemonic, eh?
Next, let’s set the alarm tone by choosing Sound from the main alarm setup in the Clock App. There are a lot of choices:
I have a few purchased ringtones (The Case, Serenity) and Apple helpfully offers a “Buy More Tones”. But really, “Radar” is just fine, so let’s leave that setting.
Before we leave, however, let’s tap on Vibration too…
Pretty cool stuff, actually!
So that’s it. I’m going to create my new, fancy recurring alarm and here’s how it shows up:
So there you have it. Quite capable after all! 🙂
