A devoted reader wrote to me, asking:
“I have just picked up your new book Creating Cool Web Sites, and it’s great stuff. I specifically read the chapter on how to increase your findability and am still wondering if there are even more tips and tricks about how to get good search engine ranking?”
It’s not a complete coincidence, but I have been trying to keep notes about the search engine optimization (SEO) techniques I’ve been learning, along with a sort of online notebook about other ways to monetize a Web site and create an additional revenue stream. The name of the new site is Free Web Money (subtle, eh?) and I think you’ll find it quite interesting reading.
There are lots of other places you can learn about search engine optimization too, including the excellent Search Engine Watch, run by my friend Danny Sullivan.
And, finally, you can always Google something like “seo optimization”. You’ll find millions of matches, I’m sure. Just be careful not to sign up with anyone who is promising something that seems too good to be true, because it inevitably is too good to be true.
You should checkout the website optimizer at http://optimizer.builtwith.com that gives plenty of information for how to optimize a website for search engines, amongst other things.
