I have a Facebook page for my company and we want to like and connect with other companies in our supply chain. How does a Facebook Page actually “like” other pages on Facebook, though? I’m stumped.
Most of the time Facebook seamlessly switches between your personal profile and a business or fan page you’re managing as you perform various personal, business and marketing tasks on the site. Every so often, however, you hit an edge, a point where it’s hard to figure out which is which.
Most people who manage business pages on Facebook simply ignore things like the ability to like other pages because of this complexity, and that’s too bad because it’s actually really interesting to see which organizations, businesses and startups are connected publicly with others. If nothing else, it’s a smart way to support your supply chain.
But let’s see how it all works, shall we?
First off, here’s a short list of pages liked by the Colorado Rockies official page, just so we know what we’re talking about:
You’ll notice that each has a “Like” button. Why? Because I’m viewing this business page as a personal profile. This is key to understanding how everything works: If you click “Like” on the MLB Network, for example, you’ll like it as you. That is, your personal profile will record it as another page that you’ve liked. Even if you administer a dozen Facebook business or fan pages.
Hmm… maybe the secret’s on your own page? On my Ask Dave Taylor page on Facebook, for example, I’ve already liked Microsoft:
But that’s not the right path either. Instead, let’s have a look at the (unofficial) Apple Computer Facebook page instead, since it’s a page I want to add to my “liked by this page” for the AskDaveTaylor page itself. Here’s a portion of the main fan page:
Again, if you click on “Like” you’ll like it as an individual.
But see the “•••” button on the right? Click on it:
There’s the secret, the choice you want: Like As Your Page…
Choose it from the menu and…
Now you can see that this is a fruitful path! A click on the menu and you’ll see all the Facebook pages you’re managing, whether just one or dozens. In my case, it’s a half-dozen:
If I choose “Ask Dave Taylor” and click on Save…
That’s the ticket! With a little bit of effort, now AskDaveTaylor has a dozen tech companies it’s liked, a summary of which is shown on the page now:
So that’s how you have a business page that you administer or manage “like” other pages.
Now go forth and like stuff!
Wow! Thank you for clearly instructing on how to like as another page. I have literally spent hours scouring the internet trying to learn how to do it. NONE of the instructions worked, obviously because they were not clear about it. You went the extra step in identifying exactly what I was looking for! Now I can sleep tonight 🙂
Great tutorial, but if you want to like, say 100 pages, this is a nightmare and could take hours.
I’ve done that successfully, but every time I try for my business page to “like” a business page that my personal Facebook page has already “liked,” the option to like the same page doesn’t show up on my business page. Is there another trick? Sometimes I’d like my business to show up in a certain page’s likes.
I used to be able to do this, but now it doesn’t show several of the pages I manage. Heavy sigh.
After much frustration your advice finally made sense. Thank you.
Dave Taylor, you are my hero now! Thank youuuuu!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
