My friends post on Facebook and somehow they seem to have access to different “feelings” and stickers than what I have. Are there hidden Facebook stickers and emoji?
Facebook doesn’t go out of its way to hide things or create a class of users who are “in the know” versus the rest of us, but like a foreign language, studying every page, every window, every nuance of the Facebook interface pays dividends in terms of what you can access and accomplish. That’s how the “feelings”, Stickers and other aspects of the modern Facebook status update work too: poke around, there are lots of features not immediately obvious.
The biggest feature is that there’s a search engine just for these specific elements and that once you know that, you can dig through literally thousands of different emoji and stickers to find just the right one for your post, whether it’s a tiny Brazilian flag or a sticker of a sleeping kitten or Christmas tree in the middle of July!
It also reveals some of the weirdness of how Facebook tries to simplify your life as a user…
To start, here’s a status update I’m composing, albeit a few weeks early for Independence Day:
I’d like to use the “Feeling/Activity” option to say something like “celebrating our independence”. A click on the “Feeling/Activity” button gives me some options, but the flags shown aren’t quite the stars and stripes I seek:
I’ll back up and try “American Independence Day” to be parallel with what’s shown, but that doesn’t work either:
A click on the entry matching what I type and I’ll be able to choose an appropriate emoji. Is this where I find an American Flag? Maybe…
Nope. Oddly, though, notice that there is one flag in the “Travel and Commute” section, right next to the ‘3’ calendar page. Recognize it? I didn’t either. Turns out it’s the national flag of Singapore, of all places. Why Singapore? I have no idea.
Scroll up to the top of this emoji window, however, and – surprise! – there’s a search box! Type in ‘flag’ to get some additional, otherwise hidden choices:
Lots of different flags, actually, including the Stars and Stripes. Nice. A click and it’s selected.
Turns out that this same search by name feature works just fine with Facebook Stickers too:
Great! A bald eagle waving a flag. How much more patriotic can I get?
Here’s the end result:
And now you know the secret to adding hidden stickers and hidden emoji in Facebook!

ON EMOJI ON THE FLAGS I WOULD LIKE TO SEE MILITARY FLAGS TO HONOR VETERANS
Flags or the seals of each of the five major US military branches? Or would you want to see that from every nation (which would be a lot of emojis!)?
Great, now I know how my friends use those stranger stickers… Thanks for sharing ?
