I need some help on getting ringtones on my motorola v710. when i went to the store to get some ringtones, the guy said he cant get it on my phone. he was using mobilephone tools or something. he said there was supposed to be some MUSIC tab on the program he was using. why is it?
Sounds like the guy might have been a bit of a twit. The phone specs detail:
Clearly your phone has that capability. He was probably using some Motorola-supplied software (I’m guessing the $30 commercial Mobile Phone Tools app that Moto sells) that’s just out of date or just doesn’t offer support for older phones like the V710 (which is almost three years old, an eternity in the world of cellphones).
Now, if your computer has Bluetooth, I find that is usually the easiest way to communicate with a phone’s file system (you can buy a BT adapter for as little as $20, btw). For example, here’s one from Amazon.com:
TRENDnet Bluetooth USB Adapter
“TRENDnet’s TBW-101UB Bluetooth USB Adapter allows you to make short-range wireless connections between your computer and Bluetooth enabled devices such as Cellular Phone, PDA, and Computer. It is compact and portable, eliminating the need for cables and physical connection…”
Once you do that, I have various articles here on the site that show how to work with Mac or PC and a bluetooth enabled cellphone:
• Pairing a Motorola RAZR to a Mac via Bluetooth
• Pairing a Motorola RAZR to Windows XP via Bluetooth
That should get you going in the right direction!
Gonna try it out, I just killed my SCH-U620 in a water ride. Going back to my dad’s old v710.
