I want to change my photo on my Windows 8.1 login screen and profile. How can I do that?
It’s actually not too difficult to change your profile picture on your Windows 8 system, but you need to keep in mind that the photo is associated with your Windows Live profile and account, not with your computer itself, per se. Further, because Win8 has a “desktop” mode, a “start page” mode and then all the individual app window modes, it’s also beneficial to keep in mind that it’s easy to change it from the Start Page, but rather tricky everywhere else.
Well, you can get to it through the Control Panels area, but to get to that, you’ll likely go to the Start Page anyway, so let’s just look at that.
First off, you do have a new picture ready to go, right? Good!
To start, go to the Start Page and look on the top right for your mini-profile pic. It’ll look like this:
Now click on your picture and a menu appears, like magic!
You can guess what to do from here, but let’s go through the steps…
Click or tap on Change account picture on your Windows 8.1 system. Now you’ll see:
If you want to take a picture with your computer’s camera, click on ‘”Camera”.
Rather just find the photo you’ve already got ready to go? Click on “Browse” instead and find it.
Done. Easy.
Worth noting, by the way, is that if you do want to go through Control Panels, just look on the left of the top set of controls:
Either way, I hope this helps you get just the right profile pic!
