I love my Apple iPhone 6 Plus. it’s the fourth iPhone I’ve owned. The only thing that I hate is the “shake to undo” feature, which I must see at least a few times every single day. Is there ANY way to disable this stupid feature?
I have to chuckle at this question because I too have grown to dislike this silly feature and think it’s one of the worst bits of the iOS user interface and, weirdly, something Apple’s never really addressed or even tried to fine tune. I mean, really, I’d say that I’ve tapped “Cancel” 10,000 times and never once actually wanted to undo or delete the most recent typing on my iPhone. So why doesn’t the system learn and simply disable this pesky feature?
We might never know. Maybe it’s a Steve Jobs feature and no-one’s allowed to remove it because His Steveness might come back from the great beyond and haunt them? 🙂
The good news? Finally, in iOS 9, there’s the ability to disable Shake to Undo. Yes, you read that correctly!
Let’s start by seeing the hated prompt:
Undo Typing. Bah humbug!
To fix it, go to Settings in Apple iOS 9. You’ll notice something new on the top of the screen:
Yes, we now have enough settings that there’s a slick search feature. Cool.
Let’s use it! Type in “shake”…
Sweet! It works, and it’s lightning fast too, which is very nice.
Tap on the one match that points to General -> Accessibility and here it is, the option many people have waited a really long time to see:
Disable that and… DONE!
No more shall your day be darkened by the silly “Undo Typing?” prompt. 🙂
Funny, I always kinda liked “shake to undo”, and never found it happening to me by accident! But clearly others feel differently. Glad the Apple Powers that Be have deigned to offer an off switch for those who need it!
Thank you….never realized there was a setting for that or that it was even my fault it showed up on screen!
