Every time I turn away from my Linux system for even five minutes it switches to sleep mode and then requires my password to unlock. This is a huge pain. How can I disable this security feature entirely, or at least have the delay be longer?

I work at a facility where everyone runs Ubuntu Linux and our computers lock the screen after just a few minutes of inactivity. I don’t mind the screen turning off, but can I set it up to not require a password if I immediately wake it up?
Just getting started with Ubuntu Linux and can’t figure out how to delay sleep lock from kicking on. If I let it sit for even five minutes, it locks up. Help me out!
