Dave, we just got one of these Epson printers and are having a major issue with it. When we print 4 X 6 glossy photos, they come out of the machine wet. Any idea why that happens?

Thanks for any suggestions you might have.

Hi Gail. No idea why the prints would be wet, but it sounds like something’s not working right. Try using the support through the Epson web site? I tend to gravitate towards live chat, personally.

    Dave,
i concur with Ernie. I bought the xp 820 only to have it not recognize the ink cartridge when i went to replace it. they sent me a new cartridge and it still did not recognize it so they sent me a new printer. guess what? this one won’t even recognize the ink that came with it. The color was not black but it was the cyan. so with two printers not working and a fortune in ink cartridges sitting around i am ready to kill. Have any other ideas on a good printer? I am done with Epson. Perhaps made in American isn’t a bad idea. Thanks

I have the Epson Expression Premium XP-810 and am now on my 4th replacement printer. That’s right, my 4th replacement. I thought maybe when my warranty expires in February 2015 that I might replace it with the XP-820. Then I read the reviews on the Epson website. The XP-810 quits printing black for no reason at all. It just quits. A new cartridge doesn’t work, it still won’t print. I call Epson support, they say they will send a replacement. Well, they have now sent me the 4th one. Guess what, the XP-820 is getting exactly the same complaint in the reviews. It quits printing black. So you might want to read the reviews for the Epson XP-820 on Epson.com before you consider buying this printer.

That’s really interesting to hear about, Ernie. I’m going to shoot a note to the Epson team and report back what they tell me about this problem and whether there’s a known workaround. Otherwise, yeah, that’s a definite red flag on this otherwise terrific printer.

We’re just discovering this problem as well, the black cartridge isnt detecting a brand-new cartridge. I shook it, that did nothing. I don’t want to waste my time like other people, not sure what to do. Sounds like this one is a dud.

Ashley, give EPSON support a call and see what they suggest. I think the best number for you to call (from their Web site) is 1-800-GO-EPSON.
