I saw that you wrote about key privacy settings in WhatsApp the other day [see: WhatsApp Privacy 101] and am wondering if you have a similar set of recommendations for Telegram?

Hi Dave. My son’s traveling through Europe and Africa and wants me to set up What’s App so we can text without him paying roaming charges. I’m always leery about privacy, though, so what are the key privacy settings I should know about for the program?

I know, I’m late to the party, but I just signed up for WhatsApp so I could stay in touch with some friends overseas. I’m a bit leery about account security, however. Is there a 2-factor authentication system I can enable to ensure no-one steals my account when I’m traveling?

Dave, I read about how some government officials were using a program called Signal to plan a military attack. Apparently they had the messages set to expire after four weeks? How can I set up a chat with similar constraints? Seems useful!

My daughter is heading to China for a few months so we’ve been testing out WeChat so we can stay in touch. Seems simple and easy to work with. She told me there’s a “snapcode” for WeChat too and now I want to find it! Can you show me how to find the scan code for my WeChat account?

I’m an avid WhatsApp user and find it’s great for texting friends while I’m out of the country. I hear that the latest version of WhatsApp is going to share all my personal info and messages with Facebook, though. Super not okay. How do I opt out or prevent WhatsApp from this violation of my privacy?
I love WhatsApp but don’t want to always be staring at my phone. Is there any way to use WhatsApp from my laptop and Web browser?
