There are a lot of headphones on the market, but they all have the same fundamental challenge: competing with the environment and background noise of your listening environment. After all, it’s quite unlikely that you’re in a completely silent listening space!
The best solution is for the headphones to have noise cancellation technology including, so that it can actually cancel out the background noise, making your environment quieter even if you don’t opt to listen to any music while the headphones are on your head. And that’s how these Sennheiser Momentum Wireless headphones work, but with an amazing effectiveness. The active noise cancellation system uses four different microphones and really does an astonishing job of removing the background hum and other audio pollution from the environment. Then you add music and it’s quite astonishing!
In fact, I’ve let a couple of other people listen to these headphones and they consistently say “Wow!” and want to know how to buy a pair for their own use.
These have become my new go-to headphones and I’m looking forward to my next plane flight when I can really test the active noise cancellation.
Oh, and one more note: The headphones also offer hands-free phone calls with a built in two-microphone audio system, making them good for phone calls in noisy environments too, however call recipients did complain that my voice sounded a bit muffled when I was in a loud coffee shop.
