Just got an Apple iPhone 7 and find that setting alarms is a bit tedious. Is there some shortcut to setting alarms in iOS?
You’re in luck with the iPhone 7 (and iPhone 6s) because they have a pressure sensitive screen which gives you not two, but three different ways to set an alarm!
The iOS 9 system has a lot of different timers too, a stopwatch (starting at zero, counting up), a timer (start at the time desired, count down to zero), and, of course, an alarm (specify end time, waits until that moment then triggers). Oh! And you can also do alarms based on location too, but that’s not really a timer, so we’ll skip that.
Okay, let’s now go through the three ways, shall we? To start, the regular way to set an alarm is to tap on the Clock app, then the Alarm button along the bottom. You’ll see your current alarms:
Easy to turn one on: Just swipe the slider and it’s ticking.
To add a new alarm, tap on the “+” button on the top right…
Now you can spin the wheels to set the time, then tap Save to set the new alarm. You can, of course, tweak things like the label, sound, and ability for the alarm to be “snoozed” or not. (Is that a word?)
That’s the boring way to set an alarm. Instead, try using Siri! Just say “Hey Siri” or launch your Siri by holding down the home button, then say “set alarm”. Siri will then ask you when you want your alarm set:
Simply say when you’d like the alarm, like “8pm” or “tomorrow at 9am” and Siri knows what to do. Yes, it’s that easy.
But hey, you have an iPhone 6s (or iPhone 7) and it has a pressure sensitive screen. That means that you can push firmly on the Clock button and get to a handy pressure touch shortcut list:
That’s easy enough. Tap on Create Alarm and just a second or two later it’s set and you’re done.
Now you have no excuse to miss any appointments. Ever!
How many times does the alarm go off and you don’t touch before it goes off because you don’t hear it?
