Is it possible to get a robot that’s actually a useful and helpful addition to your household? Surprisingly, the answer is yes, and when it’s the bObsweep PetHair, it’s a great addition to the family!
I’ve watched science fiction movies since I was little and I know that, like the Terminator, robots are big, scary creatures that are going to turn on us and we puny humans will be mincemeat against their technological prowess and greater strength and intelligence. So bring a robot into my home willingly, and let it take over one of my essential chores? Not likely!
Except there are some chores that are, well, chores. Like vacuuming and keeping the floors clean. Three kids, two cats, lots of friends visiting all the time, and a lot of square feet and it adds up to a floor that basically is perpetually in need of a quick vacuum. But why do that myself, even with my fancy Dyson vacuum?
Instead, I invited cute little bObsweep PetHair into the house (we call him “Bob”) and after a few weeks of the little fellah diligently cleaning my floor non-stop, it’s a match made in clean floor heaven!
Here he is, with his mascot atop for a ride:
The bObsweep line includes a variety of different models, but they sent me the PetHair unit to try out because of my pets. The difference? A bigger dirt holding bin, different main roller brush, and more powerful suction. And Bob works surprisingly well, as is demonstrated by this full dirt bin:
But you don’t want to just look at photos, so here’s a video review I did that includes some funny footage of our cats reacting to Bob, who is definitely invading their space and is possibly the spawn of Cat Satan. As you’ll see:
For under $300 the bObsweep PetHair is a really fun addition to your household, whether you have a relatively modest apartment or a house with big rooms. It can handle stairs, has AI to understand the always changing map of your floor, lots of programmability and even a cool remote control so you can drive it in specific directions or stop it (though it also has a lot of buttons on the unit itself, along with a very well designed display screen that makes debugging problems a breeze).
You can learn more about the entire bObsweep line at bobsweep.com and you can pick up a unit at Amazon.com (where it’s considerably less expensive than through the company’s online store) at bObsweep PetHair at Amazon.
Disclosure: bObsweep sent me the bObsweep PetHair unit for the purposes of this review.
