This is part four of a complete walkthrough of all boss battles in Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia. The walkthrough was created while playing Prince of Persia on the Playstation 3, but will translate fine to the Xbox 360 version as well.
When playing through keep in mind that the number of times you’ve fought a boss will determine on how tough each boss battle will be, so the locations do not really matter much.
This is the fourth of a series of Prince of Persia walkthroughs we’ll be publishing here on Ask Dave Taylor, all written by gamer Alex Juel. Like to read the entire series? The Cavern at the Royal Palace
The first time you meet The Concubine, you’ll realize her power of illusions. If you try to attack her, you’ll see that she’s not actually there. If you hit her illusion three times, you’ll finally get to fight the real her.
The first battle with the Concubine isn’t too tough, but you really should have the deflect move down. If you manage to deflect one of her attacks, she’ll pause for second, giving you a chance to use Elika’s magic or your gauntlet to toss The Concubine into the air.
Once you’ve created an opening, a simple, but powerful combo you can use that does a lot of damage is Elika’s magic, Sword, Elika’s Magic, Acrobatic Move, and then Sword.
For Xbox 360: Y, X, Y, A, X
For PS3: Triangle, Square, Triangle, X, Square
A great way to beat her is just continuously trying to throw her into the air using your gauntlet so that you can perform some type of combo move.
Prince of Persia: The Concubine at the Cavern
Another trick to fighting The Concubine is by learning to fend off her special attacks. If you don’t hit the appropriate button quick enough, she’ll get you so you really have to try to memorize these attacks. If you can fight them off, you get a much better chance of starting a combo and causing some damage.
When the Concubine:
Shoots the Corruption at you – Use Elika’s Magic
Performs a handstand and grabs your head with her feet – Use Guantlet
Flips into the air onto you – Use Acrobatic Move
Spins her staff – Tap Sword Attack Repeatedly
Battle at the Royal Gardens
The Concubine is always a tough fight because there aren’t any really easy ways to beat her.
Try to strike The Concubine if you can with your sword attack and if you get a couple of hits in, try hitting her with Elika’s magic to start a combo.
The Concubine will also change to various different states in this battle. When the she changes to the state where the Corruption shoots out like worms and then she covers herself, you can attack her with magic. Hit her with Elika’s magic to start a combo.
The other state will require you to catch her with your gauntlet. If you can get close enough to use your gauntlet, you’ll give yourself a wide opening for a combo.
One thing I’ve noticed during this fight is that it’s very hard to start a combo with Elika’s magic, then a sword strike. She almost always deflects the sword strike.
Instead, I’d recommend hitting her with Elika’s magic, then using the gauntlet attack to toss her up into the air, then use Elika’s magic again, sword attack, Elika’s magic, acrobatic move and gauntlet.
For Xbox 360: Y, B, Y, X, Y, A, B
For PS3: Triangle, O, Triangle, Square, Triangle, X, O
If you can deflect her attacks, you’ll get a good opening to hit her with Elika’s magic also.
Prince of Persia: The Concubine at the Royal Garden
During this fight, The Concubine will use lots of special attacks that you can try to counter by using timed button presses. She moves fast so you have to be ready. If you can counter these attacks, you should be able to give yourself enough time to strike.
Battle at Spire of Dreams
This battle is basically exactly the same as the last fight with The Concubine other than that the area you’re fighting in is now much smaller since there’s a hole in the middle.
Try to strike her with your sword or Elika as long as she’s not in the changed state and you can start some good combos.
Since the area you’re fighting in is very small, try not to use your gauntlet to toss her up into the air during a combo or you’ll lose more space you could have used for an attack. Stick to Elika’s magic and sword attacks for the most damage in this tight area.
If The Concubine changes into the state where the Corruption shoots out of her like worms, you can attack her with Elika’s magic easily so look out for this.
The Concubine will use lots of special moves again in this fight, so if you can time the button presses fast enough, you’ll give yourself an opening to hit her.
Battle at Coronation Hall
No easy way out of this fight, but there’s plenty of space to fight in this time so you can pull off some nice combos.
When she changes to the state where she can only be affected by magic, strike her with Elika. These are the best times to start combos during this battle, so watch to make sure you don’t miss your chance.
If she changes state to where only gauntlet attacks can hit her, try to catch her with your gauntlet if you can get close enough and start a combo move.
The combo I’ve chosen to use here is Elika’s magic (or Guantlet if in changed state), Elika’s magic, gauntlet, Elika’s magic, sword attack, Elika’s magic, acrobatic move, gauntlet.
For Xbox 360: Y, Y, B, Y, X, Y, A, B
For PS3: Triangle, Triangle, O, Triangle, Square, Triangle, X, O
You’ll have to try to counter The Concubine’s special attacks here as well for a much better chance at finding an opening to attack her.
Prince of Persia: The Concubine at Coronation Hall
Once you memorize the movements she does before the button press, it’ll get much easier.
Battle at Royal Spire
The Concubine will trap Elika in Corruption as soon as you find her, so you won’t have her magic at first.
You can try to fight The Concubine without Elika but you won’t get too far. All you have to do is go near Elika and the Corruption will wear off and she’ll get up to help you.
Now you can fight The Concubine the same as you’ve done before.
She changes into two states, one that can only be changed back to normal with a gauntlet attack and the other where she can only be changed back by magic attacks. Both states give you a great opportunity to start a combo.
You have lots of space in this fight so when you find a good opening for a combo hit her with Elika’s magic, Elika’s magic, sword attack, Elika’s magic, acrobatic move, gauntlet.
For Xbox 360: Y, Y, X, Y, A, B
For PS3: Triangle, Triangle, Square, Triangle, X, O
She’ll continue to punish you with her special attacks but if you’re fast enough try to press your button to counter attack and start a combo.
The Final Battle at The Palace Rooms
The final battle with The Concubine begins with a frustrating trip of traveling around on power plates.
Once you’ve made it to The Concubine, you’ll see that there are several illusions of her. Strike them several times and she’ll eventually show herself.
Attack her as you’ve done in earlier fights. Use Elika’s magic on her when she changes state to black and use your gauntlet when she changes to her other state.
Try to counter her special attacks with timed button presses if you can so you can create an opening to start a combo.
To cause a good amount of damage, use the combo, Elika’s magic, Elika’s magic, sword attack, Elika’s magic, acrobatic move, gauntlet.
For Xbox 360: Y, Y, X, Y, A, B
For PS3: Triangle, Triangle, Square, Triangle, X, O
The Concubine will run away after about 1/3 of her health is taken away, so one good large combo should do the trick.
Use the power plates to chase her down.
When you meet up with her again, she’ll knock Elika down to the ground. Once the battle begins, get close to Elika so that she’ll get back up.
The Concubine at the Palace Halls
Continue to attack the Concubine until another 1/3 of her health is taken away and she’ll run away once more. Chase her down again.
When you get to the top level, the Concubine will make Elika disappear. She’ll then create a circle of Illusions of Elika and you have to figure out which one is actually her.
All you have to do here is jump off the edge and the real Elika will save you.
The battle will begin again. Do a couple of large combos and you’ll be done. The Concubine is gone for good this time.
