Killzone 2 Walkthru Part X: Visari Palace

September 30, 2009 / Dave Taylor / Video Game Tips / No Comments

[This is the final installment of our series of Killzone 2 walkthrus, all written by gamer Alex Juel. If you have questions about the game, please don’t hesitate to post them here and Alex will do his best to answer them. The series proceeds as follows: Killzone 2: Corinth River, Killzone 2: Blood Meridian, Killzone 2: Visari Square, Killzone 2: Salamun District, Killzone 2: Salamum Bridge, Killzone 2: Suljeva Village, Killzone 2: Tharsis Refinery, Killzone 2: The Cruiser, Killzone 2: Maelstra Barrens and this final installment that’ll get you through to the end]
Here’s a summary of the game’s storyline (courtesy of Wikipedia): Killzone 2 is set on the planet Helghan, the home-world of the Helghast who invaded an Interplanetary Strategic Alliance (ISA) colony. Two years after the Helghast assault on Vekta, the ISA has launched an assault on the enemy’s homeworld. The ISA goal is to capture the Helghast leader, Scolar Visari, and bring the Helghast war machine to a halt.
In the game you assume the role of Sergeant Tomas “Sev” Sevchenko, a battle-hardened veteran of the special forces unit Alpha Team, who are on a mission to eliminate the Helghast threat. During the invasion, Sev’s unit is deployed behind enemy lines to assist the main invasion force. Responsible for securing the enemy capital of Pyrrhus, the team quickly discovers that the Helghast are a formidable enemy. Not only have they adjusted to Helghan’s hostile conditions, they have also harnessed the power of the frequent lightning storms.
A cold, barren, unforgiving world, Helghan provides a ready defense with thick, acidic air, dust clouds, and violent lightning storms. Sev discovers his squad is not just fighting enemy forces – their fiercest opponent may be the planet itself.
Now, ready to finish up this adventure? Let’s go!

Killzone 2 – Visari Palace: Lazar Highway
When the level begins, there will be a tank with a machine gun across the bridge, which you can’t kill. Take cover behind the Intruder and go down the stairs to the area on the right. Sprint through here to get to the end of the walkway and take cover.
The guys here won’t stop coming until you move forward. Take out as many guys as you can at once before running down and then run behind the shipping containers on the far right. You’ll be able to recover here and kill the Helghast on the machine gun.

SYMBOL! After killing him, run up to the gun and kill the Hig on the other machine gun. Your crew will follow you and kill anyone left. Walk back to the first machine gun and continue forward to the end of the platform. Look forward and way up on the structure ahead and shoot the symbol on the right of the building.
Enter the doors that you’re team just went in.
Outer Defenses
The next hallway will be an ambush from several Helghast and also a tank outside. Grab the missile launcher from the gun rack in the hallway to destroy the tank, then go back and get your machine gun.
Go out and start setting charges in each of the four towers. Start with the first one on the left after exiting the hallway and continue going clockwise.

Kill the Helghast guarding the tower and set a charge. Run out of the tower before hitting the trigger or will collapse on top of you.
Make your way to the next tower and you’ll come across an attached machine gun Get on it and kill the “Heavy” on the walkway straight across from you.
Take out the next tower. There will be two Helghast inside this one.
INTEL CASE! Now go to the area where the “Heavy” was just at where you have the choice to go either left or right. You can go either way, but I chose the right side. On both sides of this large building are stairs that lead down. On the right side is ammo and on the left side is an intel case.
SYMBOL! On the top of this middle building, go out to the ledge and turn completely around. Look up and you’ll see a symbol on the protruding piece of the structure.
After you take out the next tower, another “Heavy” will show up right outside of tower you just blew up. Run down to the same level as the “Heavy” and take cover along the side of the building. Kill him and destroy the last tower.
When this is done, run back to the mountain wall where the stationary machine guns were at and kill the Helghast that are now here. Take the elevator up to the courtyard.
Inner Courtyard
SYMBOL! When you reach the top of the elevators, head out onto the walkway. Ignore the ATAC’s and run straight into the small room ahead. Kill the Hig with the flamethrower coming through the other door and turn around and shoot the symbol on the wall of the small room behind you.
Head down into the courtyard and stick to the left side. This is another place where you have to keep moving or the Helghast will just keep coming. Kill all the Higs that you can until you come to the middle area where the Helghast are shooting from up above.
Instead of going up, go into the very middle of the courtyard where you’ll find a small pathway leading forward. Go into the pathway and go through the small door on the right leading beneath the higher ground.
Take this passage forward and up near the end of the courtyard. Kill any Helghast up ahead and run all the way into the far right corner where there is a small room with a stationary machine gun. You’ll be safe here behind cover and can kill any Helghast trying to enter the room.

INTEL CASE! Take your time and kill any remaining enemy before going up the stairs. In the other room adjacent to the one you were just next to, pick up the intel case on the counter as well as the missile launcher.
Go up the stair and an ATAC will fly out from the right. Destroy it using the missile launcher and go back and get your machine gun.
This section will not let up until you move forward so you have to keep going to get through here. After destroying the ATAC, run behind the cover on the right side. Kill the Helghast on the stationary machine gun and any others in the middle area beneath the canopy.
Run into the middle and kill as many more Higs as you can, then run to the left right below the other stationary machine gun. Clear out more of the Helghast and then run straight over the same spot on the opposite side.
Now move up towards the middle and kill the rest of them from behind cover. Don’t get too close to the entryway here or you won’t be able to go back.
Facing the entryway, go into the hallway on the left side. In the far back, opposite side of the machine gun, you’ll find a symbol on the inside wall facing out of the hallway towards the palace doors.
Enter the palace and prepare for the final battle.
Autarch’s Sanctum
Once you enter this last set of doors, prepare for a long battle with Radec and his marines.
When the battle begins, try to stay in the back behind cover and near Rico. The Helghast will keep coming from the stairs where Radec is staying and every once in a while a couple of Helghast will jump down behind you from the balcony up above.
If you run short on ammo, there are gun racks on the right wall in the middle of the room and one in the entryway of the doors you entered at the beginning of the battle.
When Rico yells that the balcony doors have opened, after about four minutes into the fight, doors on both sides of the wall have opened up and a Helghast will come through each one. Choose either side and go up to the balcony. On both sides as you reach the balcony, there will a Hig with a flamethrower. Kill both of them and take cover behind the short balcony wall.

Kill the Helghast attaking from the lower level and make sure that you watch your sides because Helghast will sneak up the sides and run up to attack you when you aren’t looking.
After you kill that wave of Helghast, Higs will begin attacking you with RPG’s from beyond the rubble on the side of the room that Radec is on. Assuming you’re facing the direction of Radec, I suggest staying on the second floor and running up to the rubble on the right side as close as you can to take out the remaining Helghast. Make sure you keep going in and out of cover, because the missiles and grenades will come fast.

After you kill them, a Helghast airship will burst through the wall. Run back behind the balcony wall and kill the Helghast below. When you clear most of the room, try to take out more Helghast shooting RPG’s. You can also do this from behind the statue in the middle of the first floor.
Once you kill them, you’ll have to fight Radec. Sprint everywhere during this part. He’ll keep teleporting behind you, so run around and when you hear him teleport look behind you and start shooting.
Eventually he’ll start attacking you from back behind the rubble. Keep shooting him from behind the statue in the middle and watch for grenades. It shouldn’t take long to kill him now.
Congrats. You’ve finished the game!
