Up your video conferences with this 4K webcam. Let's check it out
0:11
Dave Taylor here, and I'm sure I'm not alone in that I spend a lot of time on video conferences
0:16
whether it's Zoom or Google Meet or Microsoft Teams, I just seem to endlessly be a little square
0:24
in a grid of little squares of people. Now, when I look at everyone else, I am always checking out
0:30
what are they wearing, what's behind them, and most importantly, how crisp is their image
0:36
It's what I do. I have video. I produce video. So that's something of interest to me
0:40
Now, I always want to look the best I can, and so I always want the best possible webcam
0:47
Enter this. This is the E-Meet Nova 4K webcam. So it has a huge amount of resolution, and you
0:58
don't even need to use it in 4K for it to give you a really great crisp image that's going to look
1:04
good if you're giving the lecture or the talk or telling the joke and you're full screen, or if
1:10
you're just one of those many little squares in that grid, you're going to be crisp and clean and
1:15
look really good. Now, let me give you some specs, and then we'll jump onto my computer, and I'll give
1:20
you a demo of both the camera and the microphone so you can see just how crisp and clean it is
1:26
It's ultra 4K HD, so it's 4K at 30 frames per second, though it defaults to 1080 HD. So you do
1:35
have to play with it a little bit to get it to be the maximum resolution. My experience was that
1:41
it's totally fine. You still look great. I'll show you what you look like in Zoom, in fact, and it looks
1:47
really crisp. Now, it also features something called PDAF autofocus, which is phase detection
1:54
autofocus, and it's a super fast autofocus so that if you're moving around or you're showing
2:00
something to the camera or something, then it can just really quickly refocus to get to the correct
2:06
thing being the center of the tension, which is what you want. Dual noise canceling microphones
2:13
73 degree field of view, and that's good. You don't want something with too much field of view because
2:19
then all the junk around you is somehow in the camera, and that's really annoying. So having it
2:24
be pretty tight is actually really nice. It also, by default, does auto light correction and auto
2:30
balancing, and my experience is that's really good. If you have issues with that, which some people do
2:36
for various reasons, then you can actually go and get the E-Meet Link software, free download for
2:43
Mac or Windows, and then that lets you get to all the different settings and fine-tune it the way
2:48
you want. Includes instructions in a number of languages, and includes a little clip-on camera
2:56
cover. So if you're concerned that it's just staring at you all the time, the little cover will just be
3:03
over the lens while you're not using it. And I know for a lot of people that's really important
3:08
and having it be a physical object, I think, is much better than having it be just software and
3:15
just assume that the little light's not on, therefore it's not in use. So, nice security
3:20
piece there. Includes a five-foot cable. It is, unfortunately, only USB-A, which is fine for you
3:28
PC desktop users, but for a lot of people, you need USB-C. I actually am using my own USB-A to
3:36
USB-C adapter. This costs literally less than two dollars on Amazon, so you can make that investment
3:43
if you need to. Not a big deal. Dimensions-wise, it is 2.2 inches by 3.9 inches by 2.3 inches. It
3:51
has a little hinge, so you can use it on the table if you want. The camera itself also adjusts
3:58
but you can also just clip it on as most people would do to the back of your screen, just like
4:04
that. And that's really easy. Now, I've talked a lot. Let's jump into a demo. You're seeing me
4:10
through the E-Meet webcam and hearing me through the E-Meet microphone. To confirm, I am pointing
4:17
at the camera and you can see a really big finger. Now, right off the bat, let's do a quick test of
4:22
that autofocus. So, if I put this close, it will focus on it. Notice I'm pretty out of focus in the
4:28
background. When I drop it, it almost immediately comes right back to a clean focus on my face
4:35
And this is the E-Meet Link software that we're looking at, and you can see there are various
4:42
settings you can change here. Let's change this from 50 hertz to 60 hertz. I don't see any difference
4:48
but maybe you would. It might be more different if I was moving more quickly
4:53
And then, if I look at things like sharpness, watch the background
4:58
So, if I increase the sharpness, it makes the edges on the bricks look a little bit brighter
5:03
but let's just turn that right back to where it was. And it does give you some level of control
5:08
and if you need to turn off automatic white balance, that's how you do it. And then I can
5:13
go and adjust everything, but honestly, I think it does a perfectly good job all by itself
5:19
Now, while we're in the app, let's go and look at, there are some settings, and most importantly
5:24
you can check for software updates. And there's notifications, there's support if you have an
5:30
issue. Super easy, you can get to the user manual, all sorts of stuff. Let me come back here, and now
5:36
what I want to do is I want to switch to Zoom. So, let's see if I can just bring Zoom up. And
5:43
here we go. In Zoom, you don't even have to start a meeting. You can just go into video settings
5:48
and it gives you that little preview. So, I wanted to show you that if I go into Zoom, and then I
5:53
click on original ratio, then you don't see much difference. But watch what happens when I turn off
5:59
HD. So, this looks a little lower res, and that's the intent of it. And so, with Zoom
6:06
if you don't have HD enabled, you're sending out basically 720p video. And that's good
6:12
it's good enough for most uses, but for me, I always have HD enabled because I want to have
6:18
it as crisp as possible so that if I want to do something like, say, so here's this document I
6:23
want you to look at, then you'll be able to actually read it because it's crisp enough
6:28
So, I think that's about all I can demo. Let me jump back on camera. Not much else to tell you
6:33
about it. It's just a simple plug and play device. It'll work with Mac or Windows or Linux or Chrome
6:40
Books, anything you can plug in a webcam, it's going to work with. And of course, it also has
6:44
those built-in dual microphones, easy to work with. And if you let it just do all the auto balance and
6:52
everything, my experience was really good. If you need to tweak it, you can use that E-Meet Link
6:57
software to actually modify it and get it to be just how you want, super easy. Now, we do need to
7:04
talk about the price, but before we get there, I'm going to ask you to subscribe to my channel
7:08
Click on that subscribe button, click on that bell icon for notifications, and while you're at it
7:14
click on that thumbs up. I always appreciate that positive feedback. Cool. Now, this is the E-Meet
7:22
Nova 4K webcam and it is $69.99, but as I recorded this, I noticed it was on a substantial discount
7:31
down to $49.69 at Amazon.com. You can check out the link in my description. For under 50 bucks
7:39
this is a game changer. If you're the person who's always blurry and out of focus on your calls or
7:46
Zooms or Teams or Meets or whatever, this is your solution and it's under 50 bucks. So
7:52
no brainer, check it out. That's all I got. Hope to catch you in my next video
