Hybrid ANC headphones? Let's check these out. â™
0:11
Dave Taylor here, and I'm checking out these. These are the MPOW H19 Hybrid ANC headphones
0:17
and they're pretty darn nice. So, what's Hybrid ANC? We'll get to that in a second
0:22
But first, I just want to point out that they have swivel earpieces
0:26
and they're foldable, so they're very portable, and they have a really nice case. We'll get to that in a second
0:31
But what makes these really cool is they have really nice sound
0:35
Each earpiece features a dual 40mm driver, which means you're getting pretty large amounts of sound
0:42
It's big, rich sound. Very nice. The earpads are memory foam. They call them, like, protein foam or something like that
0:50
but it's just memory foam, same as you'd have on a bed, which means that when you put them on your ears
0:55
they rest comfortably, they're not tight, I have a fairly grande cabeza
1:01
and they're really comfortable, and they gradually sort of fit to the shape of your head
1:06
which means that they're, even just in sort of passive noise cancellation
1:10
they block out a lot of the ambient sound. But, of course, you want to use the ANC
1:15
and what they mean by hybrid is that they're doing some sort of additional circuitry to get the ANC
1:20
to work even better with lower frequencies. I can't exactly tell, and unfortunately
1:25
I can't get on an airplane to test it, but I have tried it out in my noisy house
1:29
and it's worked pretty darn well. It's a pretty nice ANC. Now, as is typical with a lot of these products
1:36
on the right ear, as you can see in the close-up, there's the volume up and down
1:41
and then there's what they call the multifunction button, which basically does everything and the kitchen sink
1:46
and then on the left ear, there's ANC, which is just an on-off slider
1:51
Now, that's a nice design, and it also means that if you use these as wired headphones
1:55
which is an option, you can still turn on the ANC, which is a real win, but the problem is that
2:02
if you leave the ANC on and you're not listening and you put them down, then that battery life
2:07
is going away, sayonara, because it's just going to run out of battery because it's working
2:12
all the ANC circuitry even though you're not actually doing anything, kind of a drag
2:17
So, trade-off there, so just remember to turn off the ANC. Now, Bluetooth 5.0, which is really nice
2:25
This is the latest generation of Bluetooth, which gives you better connectivity
2:29
and a more reliable connection. I had no problem with these, even just walking
2:33
all over my house with my source device just sitting at a table or something
2:38
totally no problem. That worked out really well. Now, on the Amazon page, they say it has
2:43
45 hours of playback. That is super optimistic and enthusiastic of the company
2:49
Prop to them for enthusiasm, but even on the box it actually says, let's see on the box
2:54
it says playback up to 30 hours without ANC. So, realistically, somewhere around like
3:02
25 hours without ANC and 20 hours with ANC. And ANC, active noise cancellation
3:08
eats up battery, but you know what? It's worth it because getting rid of all
3:12
that background noise, if you're working at home or something, then getting rid of
3:16
the noise of the kids or all the machinery or something near you, total win
3:22
So, you just have to sort of be ready for that. So, when you put them on, then you can adjust
3:26
the headband to get the perfect fit. And then it's a double tap on the
3:32
multifunction button. You can get to your voice assistant if you're on an Android or an iPhone
3:36
Either way works fine. And they also have a microphone built into this
3:40
so you can use this for phone calls, which means you could also use this for
3:44
things like video chats. Now, the microphone being up here is a long
3:49
way from your mouth. So, they do have CVC circuitry. This is CVC 8.0
3:56
So, that technology just keeps getting better. And what that does is that tries to eliminate
4:00
ambient background and passive background noise just to make your voice sound better
4:05
But it's still a long way from your voice. So, it's still kind of a balancing act there
4:10
So, you know, they're okay for phone calls. They're okay for video chats
4:14
If you're mostly just listening, these will work fine. But if you're the star of the show or the host
4:19
of the meeting, you probably want something where the microphone's a little more front and center
4:23
That's okay, because these still are really nice as headphones. And I will say that they make videos and stuff
4:31
pretty darn nice. If you want to watch Netflix, you're going to get
4:35
all the drama of the latest action movie and all the gunshots and explosions
4:39
are going to sound real good with this. Because it has a lot of bass
4:43
Now, comes with, let's see, we have a micro USB charging cable
4:49
I'm going to give them minus one for micro USB. Please step to USB-C
4:54
It's just a better connection technology. Also comes with a wire if you want to use
4:59
these wired or if you run out of battery. Keep this for emergencies
5:04
You plug one end into the headphones and the other end into whatever device you have
5:09
Now, of course, if you have something like this iPhone 11, then you're kind of a little bit
5:15
not able to do that because you need yet another adapter. So it's not like a lightning to 3.5 millimeter
5:21
Que sera, sera. But I like that you have the option of using it wired
5:26
And for some people, having it wired is going to give them much of the benefit
5:30
of the audio quality and everything without any of that circuitry or worrying
5:34
about battery life. So, that's nice. And this cable is about four feet long
5:38
because I know someone's going to ask. And you can also use, here's that little
5:43
carrying pouch I was talking about. And it's really nice. It's this very soft little pouch
5:48
So you can really fold these up as much as you need to, put them in the pouch
5:53
and you are ready to rock and roll. That's pretty nice. These make these very portable
5:58
for when you are able to take an airplane trip or jump on a train or something
6:03
It's exactly the great environment for ANC. Which brings us to the sound
6:08
So what do they sound like? The answer is, they sound pretty darn good
6:12
for the price, especially. They sound remarkably good. I mean, you really, you know, you want that ANC
6:18
to get rid of all the low environmental rumbling and noises around you
6:22
But you also want really good sound. And these deliver. They're really nice
6:27
They are very comfortable. I've listened to them for four or five hours at a stretch
6:31
And you almost forget you have them on. So some headphones, when you have them on
6:35
you sort of have that squeezing effect like the walls squishing in in Star Wars, right
6:40
It's like that with your head. Not very comfortable. These do not have that problem
6:45
So they sound really good. So they have a nice sound stage
6:49
They have a solid bass response. And it's really at the higher ends that they really are nice
6:53
So they have a nice clarity to them. So if you're listening to something like
6:57
say, some classic jazz, John Coltrane or something like that, it's going to sound really sweet
7:03
If your tastes are more to hip hop or something, then you're going to be able to hear all the individual instruments
7:08
Lots to like about these, really. So only thing left to talk about
7:12
the only thing I want to other say, or say in addition, is how much it costs
7:17
But before we get there, I'm going to ask if you can subscribe to my channel. It's just one click or a tap away
7:22
on that little red button. Go for it. Subscribe. I really appreciate that. Great
7:28
Now, these are the MPOW H19 Hybrid AM2. H19 Hybrid ANC headphones
7:34
And they will cost you a remarkably low $59.99 at Amazon.com. And $60 for these is a pretty screaming deal
7:43
And if you keep your eyes open, you might find them to be even less in other places
7:47
So, worth checking out. Now, super quick before we're done, the MPOW also has the H17
7:53
In fact, I just reviewed them recently. And those are nice too. The difference between those and these
7:58
is that these have that hybrid ANC, so they should have even better active noise canceling
8:03
And these are Bluetooth 5, whereas the H17 is back on Bluetooth 4
8:08
So, maybe not huge issues, but the obviously, well, and I guess the design is a little different too
8:14
They don't look exactly the same. I really, I'm impressed with these. These are really nice
8:18
I know my kids are going to try to take them and I'm going to say no
8:22
So with that, I'm going to get back to my music. And that means I'll catch you in my next video
8:30
Thanks for watching
