Anyone who collects watches already knows that the Casio Edifice line offers great design, tough features and smart connectivity options. The Casio Edifice EQB-1000 Watch improves on that with its distinctive front screws and super-slim (under 9mm thick!) case. Tech expert and watch afficionado Dave Taylor checks out the Casio Edifice EQB-1000 [well, the EQB-1000D-1A to be accurate] and finds that the combination of sync'ed bluetooth smart features, gorgeous design and slim fit make it a great addition to anyone's wrist. You won't believe how thin this Bluetooth watch is. Let's check it out
0:11
Dave Taylor here and I'm looking at another Casio Edifice watch. I love their
0:16
watches. I got a bunch of them, but I don't have anything as thin as this new
0:20
one. This is pretty impressive. This is the EQB 1000. More technically, this is
0:27
the EQB 1000 D1A. Now, it is literally super thin. It is 8.9 millimeters thick
0:35
which means when you put it on your wrist, it's like you don't even..
0:40
certainly you won't know that it's a Bluetooth enabled smarter watch. That's
0:44
not gonna call it a smart watch because that's like an Apple watch, which is
0:47
they're really thick, right? Weighs 130 grams, comes with a very nice standard
0:53
stainless steel buckle, has three little faces on it. Here's a close-up. You can
1:00
see the dual world time is on the left. I have it set to London, England. And then
1:07
on the top, you have a 24-hour hand. And then the lower one actually shows you
1:12
the day of the week. And you'll notice in a tiny little window, like a classic old
1:17
school watch, it shows you the day of the month. Now, also has a stopwatch feature
1:22
which is very nice, and has a phone finder feature once you have it paired
1:27
with your Bluetooth device. But I'll be honest with you, I couldn't get that to
1:31
work. I don't know. Maybe it's something about how I'm pushing the button, but in
1:35
any case, it's supposed to work. Now, back to the watch. It's a sapphire crystal
1:40
non-reflective, flat bezel, very distinctive little screws on the side of it. It's obviously a design element, but it's very attractive. It's a crazy
1:51
attractive watch. And what I really like about it, like I said, is oh, that
1:55
glorious thinness. So nice. It's also solar-powered, so assuming you don't live
2:01
in a cave, you will get enough sunlight on a daily basis on the watch that
2:05
you'll never ever have to put in a new battery or worry about it. That's pretty
2:09
sweet. Now, it also comes with what they call their Bluetooth smartphone link. And
2:14
this is through their app called Edifice Connected. And it's not the world's
2:19
greatest app from a design perspective, but it does give you access to all the
2:23
key functionality. There's a couple of screenshots. One of world time. Super
2:29
easy in the app to set from any of 300 different cities around the world. So
2:35
odds are really good if you want to track a different time. There's a city in
2:38
that area that you can use. And then here's another one that shows you it has
2:42
a built-in guide for the basic functionality of the watch. And here's
2:46
all the buttons and access for stopwatch usage. Stopwatch, also that data you can get onto your phone so you can log that data. If you're using this
2:56
watch for, I don't know, over time tracking performance of a professional
3:00
bicyclist or something, then you can actually have a nice log of data. So
3:05
that's pretty sweet. But really, ultimately, the app to me is mostly
3:10
beneficial because it makes sure my watch is always on time and it's always
3:14
on the right time and exactly the right time. So that really is all that matters
3:19
to me is I want to have a watch that's attractive and is thin, which I really
3:24
appreciate because I got so many of these sort of watches that are pretty substantial, like twice the thickness. And it's light and comfortable and
3:33
handsome looking. And it's always the right time, always the right time. And
3:38
it's really cool because it has automatic time zone settings. So if you fly somewhere, when you land and your phone resets to the time zone that
3:46
you're now in, the watch will also automatically do that. That is pretty
3:50
magic. You just look at your watch and the hands are just spinning around to
3:54
get you there. That's a really nice feature. I don't like manually adjusting
3:59
a watch and I bet you don't either. Okay, now the only thing let's talk about is
4:03
the price. But before we get to the price, I'm gonna ask if you can subscribe to my
4:07
channel. I really appreciate when you do that. Cool. Now let's go back to this. This
4:13
beauty is the Casio Edifice EQB 1000D 1A. And it is $300 at Casio.com. And you
4:23
might be able to find it at a lower price somewhere else online. I haven't
4:27
really done a heavy amount of research, but I really like this watch. This is
4:31
probably my favorite of their current lineup right now. And a lot of that has
4:36
to do with the fact that it's just so thin that it really becomes just a sort
4:40
of regular men's dress watch. And no one else will know that it's paired with
4:44
your phone and doing all these useful things. So with that, I'm gonna put it
4:49
back on and that means that I will catch you in my next video
