Let's check this out. Dave Taylor here and I'm checking out this
0:14
This is vast overkill and I love it. This is the J5 Create 4K Ultra HD webcam
0:22
And it's basically comparing this to your current webcam is like going from a DVD to a Blu-ray
0:29
It's that much difference. This has so much more ability to render what it's seeing
0:35
which makes you look crystal clear, even in a very complicated environment
0:40
So it's really, really a cool little gizmo and has built-in dual microphones
0:46
It has even a slider. You can slide it over the camera if you're worried about that
0:51
The camera also has a visual indicator that it's working, and it comes with a six-foot cable
0:57
Well, actually, it's just an inch or two below six feet. And then on the end of the cable is USBC and an adapter, if you want to go to USB3, which is the old rectangle style
1:08
So this gives you huge capability and flexibility. And in fact, the unit is plug and play with PC, Mac, and Chromebooks
1:18
So if you are dissatisfied with how you look when you're on your Zoom calls or your Microsoft meeting calls or whatever
1:25
or you just want to have something that gives you more flexibility and better quality
1:30
This is a absolute home run. Obviously, if you're using a computer that doesn't have a webcam, well, this is like a whole new world
1:39
Now, what's fun is it also comes with a remote control. Now, I'm going to hasten to warn you that they do not include the battery for the remote control
1:48
which was a surprise. It's one of those, I call those Christmas morning surprises, right
1:52
So you need to get a CR 2032 battery. It's the little watch battery
1:58
It looks like the size of a coin. And I luckily had some, so you slide it in the back and you're good to go
2:04
And the remote control gives you 5x digital zoom. And we going to demo all of this stuff And it also gives you remote access to pan and tilt features So when you zoomed in you can use the remote control to center yourself as desired
2:22
And heck, there's even a button on the bottom that's digital privacy. You push it and boom
2:26
everything goes black and the microphone turns off. Pretty darn handy. But I don't want to just talk about it. I don't want to show it off
2:33
So first off, what I'm going to do is I'm going to just use the built-in webcam in my
2:39
MacBook Pro and I'll record a little bit of footage and then I'll switch it around and we'll use
2:44
this as my webcam in default mode without touching the remote control and then that'll be
2:50
you know segment number two and then for the third segment since we have that 5x digital zoom I'm
2:56
going to actually put the webcam on this tripod and then put it further away from me and then use
3:03
the remote control as I'm recording so you can see how all that works together. I'll also be
3:09
using the onboard microphone, both the onboard microphone from my Mac built-in
3:14
which is not going to sound really great, and then I'll use the microphone for this, which hopefully will sound better
3:19
Okay, I got a lot to do, so let's switch things up. So this is the built-in webcam on my MacBook Pro
3:25
and the built-in microphone, and it looks good, and the audio is decent, but it's nothing to write home about
3:32
and you probably wouldn't want to record a movie using the webcam. So, let's switch it around, and let's try the J5
3:39
4K Ultra HD webcam and see how different that looks. By comparison, this is the J5 Create
3:46
and as you can see, it's crystal clear. In fact, there's so much detail that maybe I want a beauty mode or something
3:54
but be that as it may. It is a much crisper image, and it's much better looking
4:00
and I'm using the dual microphone built into the J5C3-4K-U-HD webcam, and I should sound better too
4:08
But where this really gets fun is when we take the webcam off of my computer because it just sitting on the edge of the screen right now and I going to put it on a tripod and we going to see what it like to have it a couple of feet away which is going to give us a lot more chance to play with the remote control and to play with the zoom and tilt and pan So let do that I have it set up on the tripod and I raised it up a little bit So it about eye level with me
4:34
So that means that because of the wide angle, you're getting a lot more of what's going on around me
4:40
and you're seeing the edges of my background and what's behind it
4:44
A little bit more chaotic than it looked on camera, isn't it? So this is actually pretty fun
4:49
It's really nice to be able to do something like this. And then I can use the remote control and we can try just zooming in and it does a step to zoom and I'm having to glance down at my computer to see where I am in the zoom
5:03
And now I can use the tilt and pan to really fine tune it
5:10
Let's see if I can really zoom in on myself. What I have noticed is when you do a lot of zoom, it's not entirely crisp and in focus
5:19
so it tends to do better not zoomed in. My guess is it's a digital zoom, so it's just using less of the frame
5:27
That's something a lot of cameras do. A lot of the smartphones can do that too
5:32
So you find that if you're really zoomed in, it's a little bit more pixelated
5:36
On the remote, there is. However, the button that says, boom, go back to the original, and now it's all super crisp
5:44
Obviously, the audio is not quite as good because the microphone's a little further away
5:48
but there's a lot to like about this and this does give you a lot of flexibility and obviously if instead of me sitting in front of a piece of fabric it was a conference table and three or four people or a dinner table and everyone was having dinner
6:03
something like this sort of setup is way more flexible and it's going to look way better
6:08
than having it just be a webcam off of a laptop or like FaceTime off your phone
6:13
So there's better solutions and this is one of them. Now, let me get back to being on my main camera so I can give you just a quick wrap up and we can talk about the price
6:22
It's pretty impressive, isn't it? There's a lot to like about this 4K webcam
6:27
So what we really need to talk about, though, is the price. And before we get to the price, I want to ask if you could look at the price
6:33
subscribe to my channel. Really appreciate when you do that. It just a click or a tap on that little red subscribe button on the lower right And boom we connected Great Now one more thing I did want to show you that on the bottom there is a tripod mount here which is nice and then the
6:49
lower hinge actually makes it where you can just adjust it to whatever angle you want and then you just
6:56
literally hang it on the back of your computer and now you can adjust the top part as you desire
7:03
to get it to be with you in the center or of course you can do it with the right
7:07
remote control, but that tilt and pan and such aren't quite as helpful when you're fully
7:13
zoomed in, zoomed out, because it needs to use a subset of the image to move around
7:20
So, ideally, you're going to want to be using this physical device itself, and it does give you
7:25
the ability to turn it. So if there's a better angle, you can do that
7:30
You can even have it be 180 degrees turned. And, of course, one of the other things you can do, which is nice, is you
7:37
You can literally use it right on its own little amount if this is going to work for you
7:41
or you can put this on the edge of a bookcase or something, and you're good to go
7:46
All right. Now, this is the J5Creat 4K Ultra HD webcam, and it's 16999, but when I looked on their website
7:56
it's down to $130 at j5Creat.com. Now, $130 is a fairly spendy upgrade for your webcam, but there are a lot of people
8:07
that that is totally worth it because they're going to go from having nothing or having a poor
8:12
webcam and a lot of especially low price PCs have really crummy webcams. But to be able to go up
8:20
to something that's this good, this flexible, and this crisp, I think it might be a worthwhile
8:26
investment for a lot of you out there. And with that, I think I'm going to go back to my Zoom call
8:31
which means I'll catch you in my next video
