How to Create a Business Slideshow that Retains More Viewers

December 31, 2018 / Dave Taylor / Business Advice / No Comments

Do you find that the business slideshows you create are having trouble retaining viewers? If your slideshow is losing lots of viewers before the end it will be far less effective, and won’t really have much of an impact.

The good news is that there are several steps you can take to improve any business slideshow so that it is better able to retain viewers. In particular you should:

Open the slideshow with a hook

If you want to retain viewers you need to get them interested from the very first slide, which is why it is important that you open your business slideshow with a hook. The exact type of hook you use will depend on the content of your slideshow, and the composition of your audience.

In general one of the more effective types of hooks is to focus on the benefits. Essentially you should let viewers know exactly how they will benefit from watching your slideshow, so that they feel more interested in it.

Take full advantage of visuals

Visuals are far more interesting than text, or even a narration for that matter. In fact one of the main advantages of slideshows is the fact that they can visually represent the message – and you should be capitalizing on that.

As a rule you should always find ways to show viewers the content of your message instead of just telling them what it is. It is up to you whether to use photos, illustrations, graphs, charts, or even infographics to accomplish that.

By taking full advantage of visuals, your slideshow should end up more interesting and you should be able to deliver its message in a more memorable and effective fashion as well.

Keep the overall duration short

To make sure you retain as many viewers as possible to the end of your business slideshow – try to keep its overall duration short. The longer that your slideshow is the more viewers will eventually lose interest, so you should try to deliver the message in as clear, straightforward and concise a manner as you can.

It should be noted that the ‘acceptable’ duration for business slideshows can vary wildly. That being said for longer slideshows (such as training material or reports) you’ll have a captive audience of sorts and don’t need to worry too much about it.

The types of slideshows that you should especially try to make sure are short and concise include any type of marketing slideshows, including business pitches.

You’ve got this!

If you do everything outlined above, your slideshow should be far more equipped to retain most of its viewers. It should be noted that the tips can be used when you come up with slideshow presentations or even create a slideshow video using Movavi Slideshow Maker for example.

Make no mistake there are other elements that can help make a slideshow more engaging and enable it to retain more viewers. In some cases you may even want to mix in some background music, or play short videos at certain points in your slideshow.

However those methods are more situational, and will depend on the content of your business slideshow and its message. Still it doesn’t hurt to explore them, and in some cases they may help you to retain even more viewers.
