I went to “Settings” and can’t see how to change my profile picture, but I really need to update it on my Twitter account! HELP!
Like many Web-based systems, Twitter has a really good user interface for the basic interaction but gets a bit more confusing when you want to tweak settings and preferences. And by “a bit more confusing” I mean “can be really super frustrating”…
I recently needed to update the profile photo picture for my @FilmBuzz Twitter account, so I’ll step through the process.
The first thing to realize is that “Settings” is not the right place to go. But let’s start at the beginning.
Here’s my Twitter profile page. Yours will look basically the same.
Now, click on the top right mini profile pic:
Choose that to ensure that you’re viewing your own account profile in Twitter.
The important button will be on the right:
That’s it! Edit profile. Click on it to get to your own profile in an editable form, and your profile picture will also have an overlay that tells you pretty much everything you need to know:
Guess what to do next. Click on the camera icon? You’re a winner!
At this point you’ll be able to take a photo (if you’re courageous), remove the existing pic so that there’s no profile photo or upload a photo from your computer. The latter is probably the most common, and since I already have the graphic I want on my system, I’ll click on Upload photo…
That’s easy enough. A click on “Open” to make the selection, it’s uploaded, and updated:
Make sure you click on the “Save Changes” button if you’re done. You can also update your banner graphic if you want with a very similar process. The end result can be quite an improvement:
That’s it. And while you’re at it, you can find me on Twitter as @DaveTaylor and, of course, as @FilmBuzz. I invite you to follow me in both places!
