I like Facebook, but more and more I just see these stupid game updates that I just don’t care about. Is there some way to hide game app updates from my Facebook news feed?
Ah yes, as if Facebook wasn’t enough of a demonstration of the astonishing ability of your friends and family to waste massive amounts of time on banal things, most Facebook games also update people’s followers because people really want to know when someone’s achieved level 643 in Toy Blast or defeated another alien in yet another game.
I definitely enjoy games so I can’t criticize other people for getting enthused and sneaking a game here and there during their day. Heck, it’s a multi-billion-dollar industry and some of the best programmers in the world are making great, highly addictive games!
Fortunately, Facebook also makes it easy for you to ignore everyone’s updates. Let me show you what I mean.
First off, an update from my friend Spike, who has definitely played a lot of Toy Blast to get to level 643!
The honest truth: I don’t care if Spike reached level 6435. I just want it gone from my Facebook news feed.
Now I could simply respond with an angry emoji…
but truth be told, that’s not going to remove the update from my newsfeed and more likely than not Spike will be left scratching his head, clueless about why I’d be angry about him achieving level 643 in the game!
Instead, click on the downward pointing triangle icon on the top right corner of the the post. It produces this menu:
You can see the right choice: “Hide all from Toy Blast app“. Select that and you’ll never see updates from Toy Blast on your newsfeed, whether it’s Spike or anyone else.
And Facebook will confirm it:
Done. It might take a few weeks to suppress all of the game updates, but it’s doable with persistence!
And then the game updates won’t be litterin’ your Facebook newsfeed.
Those updates are really irritating. Thanks for sharing about how to hide game updates Facebook news feed.
