My iPhone 6 keeps a log of every call I receive, whether I answer it or not. Can I delete individual calls if I don’t want them to be shown to anyone else who looks at the call log?
You’re right that your Apple iPhone 6 logs every call you make or receive, whether the other end answers or whether you answer an incoming call. In fact, every modern phone has this feature and it’s great if you have friends who don’t tend to leave voice mail so you know not only that they called, but when they called (and if they called a dozen times, you’ll see that too!)
Sometimes, however, you’re right that you don’t need to have that sitting in the call log for anyone to see. Imagine you’re planning a surprise party, for example. Perhaps you don’t want your co-planners number showing up. Or you have a “thing” on the side and don’t want those calls in your call record either! Same issue.
Fortunately you can indeed delete entries from your call record, whether you answered them or not.
To start, go to the Phone app on your iPhone and tap on Recents:
(yes, I’m shrinking down the images so they fit better. You’ll still get the gist, no worries!)
You know that you can tap on Missed along the top to see just those, right?
Let’s go back to the full list with a tap on All, then tap on Edit on the top right.
Now you can see how to delete individual entries:
Let’s remove the call from Linda that came in yesterday.
To do that, a tap on the red circle causes the Delete option to appear:
No surprise at this point, a tap on Delete and that call vanishes from the call log:
That’s all there is to it. Want to delete everything? There’s no feature that gives you a shortcut to remove all of this information en masse, but it’s just a second or two per call, so unless you’re really trying to cover your tracks, it shouldn’t take long to clean up your call log data.
Caveat: While this removes it from the displayed information, I don’t know if it completely removes all trace of the call from the phone. That’s something to take up with your local law enforcement officials, I suppose. Just worth noting…
