I signed up for MySpace and Facebook because, well, everyone does here at UT, but I’m not really sure I understand how it all works. Now I just got an email message that “Jerry would like to be added as one of your friends” from MySpace and I still don’t really know what it means and what I am supposed to do at this point. What if I don’t like Jerry and don’t want to connect to him, for example?
I have an iMac G4 which runs on OS X 10.2.8. I believe this means that I can’t download Standalone Music player (which is used on mySpace.com) because you need 10.3.9? Can I download some sort of software to upgrade without paying a fortune?! or does it mean I can never listen to band’s music on mySpace?
This is just deeply troubling: I finally succumbed to the never-ending harassment of my pals and have signed up for a MySpace account, but as soon as I signed in, the system tells me that I have a friend already linked to me named “Tom”? Who the heck is Tom and why is he listed as my friend?
I’m a big fan of MySpace and all my friends are too, but we really want to be able to talk real-time rather than just send email messages back and forth and post endless bulletins. I know Google has its IM service, Microsoft has one, heck, even Yahoo has an IM service, but what about MySpace? Is there a MySpace Messenger?
I have two Macs. One is running Mac OS X Panther, the other Mac OS X Tiger. They both have Safari and Explorer. I have kids that want to spent alot of time on myspace.com. I have heard that you can use Unix to redirect URLs by changing the host file. If you could help me I would apreciate it.
Some of my colleagues have signed up for the Plaxo shared business card / contact management service, and I’m wondering if it’s possible to get spam because I’m a member of the Plaxo service?
