Enable Twitter 2-step account password verification?

June 2, 2013 / Dave Taylor / PayPal Help, Twitter Help / No Comments

I heard that Twitter recently announced two-step password account verification for user accounts. I’m not entirely sure what it is, but given how many people seem to have their Twitter accounts hacked, I’d love to learn more and set it up. What’s the scoop, Dave?

Beware the latest Facebook phishing scam!

February 25, 2013 / Dave Taylor / Facebook Help, PayPal Help / 1 Comment

I’m confused, I got a notification from Facebook that there’s “activity I may have missed on Facebook” related to a friend whose name is not familiar. Did someone hack Facebook and mess up my friend list or did that person sneak there way onto my friend list or something? What’s it all mean?

What annual subscriptions do I have set up in PayPal?

December 31, 2012 / Dave Taylor / Amazon, eBay, and Online Shopping Help,, PayPal Help / No Comments

As it’s the last day of the year, I’m thinking about recurring billing that’s going to kick in starting again in 2013 through my PayPal account. It’s so easy to set up, and so easy to forget about until the transaction occurs again. Not good. How do I see every merchant I’ve pre-approved for a subscription or other recurring transaction on PayPal?

How do I enable Yahoo Mail two-step authentication?

September 7, 2012 / Dave Taylor / Computer & Internet Basics, PayPal Help / 3 Comments

I’ve been reading about how lots of online services now use 2-step authentication or verification to ensure that no-one else breaks into your account and it sounds great. I have a cellphone that’s always with me, so the idea of the system sending a temp second password to my cell phone and requiring that I enter that too sounds great. But does Yahoo have it yet?

Can I use two-step authentication with Dropbox?

August 31, 2012 / Dave Taylor / Computer & Internet Basics, PayPal Help / 1 Comment

I’m using Dropbox to share highly confidential files with an investigator and need to be completely sure that no-one other than myself ever access the files. I know Dropbox uses SSL connections and my account is protected by a password, but I want a higher level of security. Can I set up a two-step verification or authentication process so it requires me to both know my password and receive a text message on my cellphone to log in?

Get my shopping cart plugin to work with WordPress?

August 16, 2012 / Dave Taylor / PayPal Help, Wordpress Help / 2 Comments

We’ve put in a shopping cart for a client that’s not working, and we need some help!
The cart is currently using the WP-ecommerce plugin. Even the developers of this plugin admit this thing needs to be scrapped and rebuilt from scratch. Yeah. Anyway, the products on the site require a very sophisticated level of functionality that affects shipping based on country and zip code.
We’ve hacked the plugin to pieces to make this work, and there are still errors that are costing her sales. It would be easy to limit shipping on a product-by-product basis, but that’s not the way her store works. Like on Cafe Press: I want the slogan that says “My mom can beat up your dad.” Once I select the slogan, I can choose to purchase that slogan on a t-shirt, mug, or bumper sticker. However, if I live in London, I shouldn’t even be offered the bumper sticker, for example, since it can’t be shipped.
See our problem? Got any WordPress solutions for us??

How do I promote a Facebook fan page post?

August 4, 2012 / Dave Taylor / Facebook Help, PayPal Help / 1 Comment

I’ve noticed that postings I make to my Facebook fan page aren’t seen by everyone who is a fan, which seems like more than a bit of a racket on their part. But I can’t change Facebook, so is there any way I can gain more visibility for my posts?
