What are eBay’s Refer a Friend and Anything Points programs?

December 18, 2004 / Dave Taylor / Amazon, eBay, and Online Shopping Help / 1 Comment

Dave, I’ve just joined eBay and I’m trying to figure out what eBay’s Refer a Friend program is all about. More specifically, I can apparently earn eBay Anything Points but I just don’t see what they’re for. Is this really a way for me to make a few bucks helping other people learn about eBay?

Selling jewelry on eBay, does it need to be appraised?

Can I offer bonuses on my eBay auctions?

December 2, 2004 / Dave Taylor / Amazon, eBay, and Online Shopping Help / No Comments

I might offer a bonus with an item because the two go together well, but I also want to be able to offer a bonus if bidding reaches a certain threshold too. Are those legal?

On another forum I’m involved with, someone’s asked a great question: I want to sell products on eBay, but I want to include photographs with my items. How do I do that? What kind of camera do I need, and what settings should I use?

What’s the best way to figure out if an eBay seller is legit?

November 22, 2004 / Dave Taylor / Amazon, eBay, and Online Shopping Help / 4 Comments

A friend of mine who is just getting involved with the fun and crazy world of online auctions just recently found something she wanted to bid on at eBay. That’s good, but she decided not to bid because she’s heard too much about scams, rip-off artists and other untrustworthy characters. Rather than just bail on auctions, though, she asked me for some tips on bidding on eBay safely.
