I dunno, maybe I just make things difficult for myself, but I just bought a Motorola HS820 handsfree bluetooth headset to use with my new Motorola RAZR cellphone, and I can’t get the silly thing to work with my phone! I follow the directions, but the headset is never seen by the RAZR?
Perhaps the most important step in this entire process is to charge up the headset before you start. When I bonded mine to my RAZR, I gave it about three hours for a full charge, then also made sure my phone was fully charged too, though I’m sure that doesn’t matter.
Once you’re ready, you need to get the headset into “pairing mode” which is done by pushing and holding down the call button for about ten seconds. The blue light will turn on and stay on (if it’s just flashing you haven’t gotten the headset into pairing mode. Try again)
Now, on the phone, you need to go to Menu –> Settings –> Connections –> Bluetooth. At this point on the phone, one of the options is “Handsfree”. Select it and you’ll see:
Choose “Look for Devices” at this point and you’ll now see the phone scan for individual devices:
Hopefully, it’ll find your headset:
The Motorola HS820 handsfree bluetooth headset is what I’m working with, and I think what you’re talking about too (though it doesn’t really matter because all headsets bond with phones using a similar approach, and all Motorola phones have the same settings and configuration menus too).
To proceed, I select the headset because now I have to actually pair the two together. Having selected the HS820, I now am shown:
I want to do this, so I indicate “Yes” and am then asked to enter a passkey. Here’s where you can see that bluetooth security isn’t as good as it could be: the passkey for all headsets is 0000. Enter that code, choose “Ok”, and it should match what the headset seeks:
That’s all there is to it. If your phone isn’t seeing the headset during the scan process, or it’s rejecting the PIN, I think you might have a bad device and I would suggest you take it back.
Good luck to you!

Thank you so much! Went crazy trying to enter a pin. 0000 – Wish someone would just put that in a manual!
I tried that..That’s the way how i do it, but for some reason, my blue tooth on my phone won’t even turn on. the blue light thingy u know….and it works on my brother’s phone..idk what’s wrong with my phone? =/ his isn’t a rasor like mine..u know what’s wrong with mine?
Question, please. Can you email me to let me know why it is installed correctly and says “Connected Motorola H3” but then a few moments later it goes off and saying “Disconnected Motorola H3” on my Razr screen? My cell is on full charge as is the BlueTooth?
Thanks Dave! My sister gave me her Razr and I couldn’t figure out how to pair it. Also I forgot what the passkey is. You saved me a ton of time!
Wow, thanks so much. Can’t tell you how many times went over skimpy instructions. No use. Got a new phone and for the life of me couldn’t get it to pair. Read your instructions and viola. Every other set of instructions simply said hold and put in discovery mode. Had it said, ten seconds, as you had… Doesn’t everyone find most sets of instructions, leave a lot to be desired. Thanks again!
Thanks for the help!! Worked like a charm!!!
No matter whether it’s a ringtone already on my new LG GD510 POP or a down loaded one, my in coming call ring volume is very low, I have tried changing my ring volume in profiles and all are on maximum, the phone will play music etc loud but the more I try changing things the quieter it seems to become, any answers greatfully received. P.s. manual no help either.
Thanks Dave!! I forgot how to pair and also lost the instruction manual with the passkey. YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After trying many times to figure out how to connect my dad’s old bluetooth N136 (no manual of course) to my Razr, I finally gave up and went out and purchased a new bluetooh (Ontario driving laws require handsfree as of the 26th). Well… the sun really does shine on a dog’s behind every now and again…because I thought I would try google ONE MORE TIME and that’s when I stumbled upon your site. I am now rushing out the door to return the new bluetooth because your instructions were bang on. You saved me $55. THANKS Dave! You Rock.

Hi Dave:
I am trying to set up a Motorola Bluetooth headset H710 with a Motorola Razr V3T phone. I cannot get the H710 to have a steady blue light when the call button is pressed for a lot more than 10 seconds. As a matter of fact, I get no light at all when the boom is closed.
Secondly, after various attempts I mamaged to get the phone to recognse the H710 but coversations only work one way – I can hear the caller but they cannot hear me.
Any help with this is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Eric
Thanks so much! I paired it with my Motorola Renegade but could not get it to work with my Razor. Thanks to your instructions they both work and I can use 1 headset with both phones. How convenient!
thank you so much that was so quick and easy. i had no problems whatsoever! my dad gave this to me and it didn’t have a manual or anything, i had no idea it was that simple.
Thanks dave for your advice on set my bluetooth for my motokzkr k1 cell phone
Great advice about the Motorola bluetooth and Razr Phone. I’m left with two questions though…
1] Will my headset work with my bluetooth laptop using Skype for Internet phone calls, so I don’t have to be physically connected with a wired headset?
2] What if my Motorola bluetooth headset had its passcode personalized and it’s lost? Will the ‘0000’ still work as well? I can’t get mine to work with ‘0000’ and am at a loss as to the passcode that was programmed into it. Can I somehow override it and then reassign one that I’ll remember? I’ll write it down for safe-keeping!
Thanks Dave. I have been battling this thing for 2 days and it finally works.
The passcode for t909s is not 0000, i tried a lot but failed
Thanks for the help, you are awesome. I haven’t used this headset in 2 years and had gotten a new phone and couldn’t remember how to use it. you rock! thank you, thank you, thank you!
Thanks Dave, it worked like a charm
I have an h700 and cannot find my book with the pin number. I just got a new phone and now cannot put it with it. How do I find the code? Thanks Dave
Thanks so much. I just synced me Bluetooth into my phone a minute ago and it worked. Good Instructions.
Thanks a million, had no clue what the passkey could be and was getting annoyed, once I entered 0000 I was good to go !!!!
Wow!
I just synced my bluetooth in a few minutes following your directions! I’ve spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out what the heck was wrong (phone not locating bluetooth). Pushed the button on the bluetooth to pair and “whoalah!” ….synced. I was about to go in today and take the time, efort, $ to have the guys at Bets Buy sync it again.
Thanks so much!!!
Sabrina
My razor v3 has been paired and working fine w/ my plantronics voyager 510 bkuetooth headset until today. Today it wouldn’t connect. When I select “bluetooth link” on my phone is says “Bluetooth module not attached.” I can’t find any reference to this in my razor or plantronics manuals.
Thanks,
Seph
Thanks so much – I was finally able to set up my new bluetooth device after my dogs chewed up the last one!

I still cant get the phone to even find the headset.. Let alone bond with it..
It’s in pairing mode and everything, but the bluetooth just won’t work.. :/
OK, It must be my device. We tried 3 different cell phones, and none of them found this device. It is a “True Blue Model TB26W” It has become quite frustrating.
Thank you so much 2 minutes and ii’m hooked up with my bluetooth!
i have a question i have the T909S Bluetooth Headset.. and it doesnt work for my phone (nokia n74) … my phone can find the device and the pin is alright.. but it says is unable or impossible…. =[

This was helpful, but I wouldn’t have gotten it to work without Deb’s comment — she is absolutely right about having to open the boom once you get the solid blue light. This fixed my problem. 🙂
Thanks!
TY it worked very good. I need directions. got the answers. Now it works.
Worked like a charm the first time! THANKS!
