This post brought to you by Opinion Outpost. All opinions are 100% mine.
I’ve gotten plenty of emails and seen display ads that promise easy money through answering online surveys and I admit, I’ve been tempted. I mean, while you’e watching a TV show or stuck on a conference call, why not allocate 10% of your attention to an online survey and earn a few bucks for your time and effort?
Problem is, they all seem to be scams of some sort of other. Until I bumped into Opinion Outpost, a company that delivers on the goods. Sort of.
The thing of it is, they do have online surveys you can take to earn points that can be converted into gift cards or cashed out through PayPal, but the pay for your time isn’t going to get that new Ferrari any time soon.
Let me show you my experience…
I started out signing up for an account on the site, filling in some basic demographic information and soon enough was ready to take my first survey, or so I thought (as you’ll see in my video, below).
The screen looked like this:
15 opinion points for a survey that should take twenty minutes. Which calculates out to 45 points/hr. Remember that figure. The survey was about buying high-end furniture and it was interesting to see what companies were shown:
As you can see, Arhaus, Horchow, Crate & Barrel and Z Gallerie were four of the about twenty companies listed, some of which I’d never heard of. I dutifully checked the boxes. Roughly ten minutes later I was done with the occasionally tedious survey and went to cash in my 15 opinion points, just to find the conversion rate:
As you can see, each opinion point is worth $0.10. That's all. So using my ten minute survey as the basis of my calculations, that gives me a rate of 90 opinion points/hr or $9/hr. Not bad if you’re a minimum wage worker and doing this while watching Desperate Housewives definitely beats flipping burgers at Mickey D’s. Is it enough to motivate you? Maybe.
The important thing is that OpinionOutpost is indeed delivering on what it promises: it’s a legit, professional site where you can join for free and get paid to answer online surveys. Ferarri not included. Oh, and I also made a quick video explaining a bit more about the experience of going through a survey.
I’d say if this sort of opportunity intrigues you, visit Opinion Outpost.
SUMMARY
Get paid to answer online surveys? Sounds like a scam, but if you check out OpinionOutpost, you’ll be surprised to find that it’s a legit opportunity, though it won’t yield millions at the click of a mouse.
I’ve been a Opinion Outpost member for years and agree with your opinion of them. Receiving money/goods for surveys nearly 25 years from diff. Companies; quite a few out there truly pay several dollars per survey if you meet all the qualifications for the survey. I also have made money proof reading reviews/descriptions of articles in other languages; again after meeting pre qualifier at Sendearnings.com which is the quickest in sending payments when you request it. Another favorite of mine is mypoints.com I use to collect points to get gift cards or other things to reduce the cost associated with gift giving during the holidays. I used it to travel to Europe for a month a few years ago. When my health was better I also used to sometimes go on Mystery Shopping trips but they only pay off if you are driving there already anyway or you have more than one in the same area since the payments you get from many have not kept pace with the rising gasoline prices. Overall you can make enough without stressing yourself out while waiting on your appointment or some other idle time once you learn which once are worth your trouble and take care of all your gifts throughout the year and maybe one or two nice big treats for yourself; that’s without trying.
A great review for Opinion Outpost. One of the things I love about Opinion Outpost are the surveys are SHORT!
Thanks for posting – Very interesting article. Making money online can be easy if you know what you are doing and know how to avoid scams!
Interesting article here. When I first read the title, I though of a website called points2shop where I had an account myself. They have the same conversion rate: 1 point = $0.10. On there, you can buy stuff directly from Amazon, or take a check, or get paid via PayPal. I used it for a while, but got bored and never returned.
