Hi! I love your website askdavetaylor. I keep going back in search of ideas for my own site. I am in the processes of re-design (getting rid of copyrighted materials, such as game sites, etc). This may be a strange question to ask, one you have most probably been asked a few times before, but do you have any suggestions on topic ideas I could include on my site based around the Nintendo 3DS system?
Thanks for your note and kudos! Always nice to hear from a fan in the gaming world!
The best way I’ve found to brainstorm is to search for the word, acronym or phrase that best describes what you’re seeking. Search Google, see what comes up, do keyword research, see what other words show up, look on news sites or gaming sites, see what people are talking about that relates to 3DS, etc.
Let’s have a look and you’ll see what I mean.
First off, just tapping into search completion, if I type in “3DS” on Google, here’s what immediately pops up:
These should be the most commonly searched words associated with ‘ads’, but once you do the search, also scroll to the bottom of the Google results page and you’ll see even more common and popular topics:
There are some good articles waiting to be written, yes? Better yet, this proves that a lot of people are searching for these topics, like nintendo 3ds release date , nintendo 3ds price and nintendo 3ds video . Got any info on those?
Scroll back up to the top of the search results page and click on “News” on the black navbar along the top:
The result are news articles that mention the Nintendo 3DS:
Those are interesting and quite topical. You probably already track 3DS news, but do you share key snippets with your readers?
Let’s do some keyword research before I leave you to your site development. There are a lot of tools available, but I prefer using Google’s free AdWords External Keyword Research Tool . Click on that link and you’ll end up here;
You can see that I’ve just entered “3ds”, but there’s no reason you couldn’t search for “nintendo” or “nintendo 3ds” or “nintendo 3d” or any of the other terms that your earlier research has brought to light.
More ideas. More information on what people are looking for and how often they’re doing these searches. Note that nintendo is a good term: it’s searched for a remarkable 24.9milllion times each month, worldwide. That’s a lot of traffic!
Hope this all helps out. One more thought, too: add a search box on your own site and pay attention to what people seek: they’ll tell you what they want to find on your site, and all you have to do is provide it.
