What do all the icons on my Motorola RAZR V3c phone mean?

I have the razr phone from verizon. On the bottom tool bar there is an icon of a man as if he is speaking I am thinking this means voice command. How do I get this icon off my bottom toolbar. I got it on accidentally when I was fooling with the phone. Thanks so much!

Dave's Answer:

Y'know, I see some mystery icons when I use my Motorola RAZR V3c too, now that you mention it, and I too have been curious about what they all mean. Unfortunately, Verizon changed the OS of the phone, which means that it also changed the icons in use, so the user's guide on the Motorola web site is useless in this instance (weirdly enough).

Nonetheless, with some earnest digging I did find some information on the Motorola site that offers some up some clues about the different icons that can be displayed on the phone, though I apologize that their graphics aren't quite as crisp as I'd like:

Motorola RAZR V3c icon list: Verizon version

The icon that I believe you're talking about is actually the one that indicates you have new voicemail, and is in fact nothing to do with the speakerphone or voice command subsystem!

In terms of the original Motorola icon set, here's the information on the standard RAZR icons from the user's guide:

Motorola RAZR V3c icon list
Motorola RAZR V3c icon list 2

As you can see, different icons, different meaning.

Anyway, hope that helps clear up the mystery of the unknown icon on your RAZR!

I just got a Razr V3 as well and it's been a bit frustrating figuring out all the set up options. For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to access my Message Inbox. I have 7 messages and every time I try to access it, I get a message that the Inbox Requires Setup. I go through the process and I still cannot access it. I think I'm missing something but I don't know what. The online help is not helpful at all. If you have any suggestions, I'd appreciate it! Thanks.

Haha - excellent!

I had most of it figured out but periodically I would see this one icon that I just couldn't figure out what it meant. Now I know!

On my Cingular Razr, I get an icon centered at the top of the screen that is a coffee cup. Any ideas what this is???

Posted by: Lynn Strickland at December 19, 2006 6:55 AM

I have a RAZ 3, cingular service and at the top, middle of my screen is a cup of coffee, what does it mean?

Posted by: Cheryl at December 26, 2006 1:56 PM

the coffee cup is you have java enabled. whatever game you were playing is in suspended mode. you can go to games and press end and it will clear it off. what i'm trying to figure out is what 2 little circles with a line at the top that connects them mean. it looks like the old icon logo you would see on vhs tapes. it's driving me crazy.

It looks like a pencil head next to my ring indicator on the top right side of the screen next to the battery cells...what is the pencil?

Posted by: tessa at February 28, 2007 6:41 PM

what is that blue symbol on the front of the razor mean, it looks liek two triangles next to each other and then two lines below it pointing below the two triangles, what does this mean?

Posted by: Dave at April 2, 2007 11:39 PM

Dave, that's the bluetooth symbol, two blue triangles. If you see it then you have bluetooth enabled. If you see it and a tiny additional graphic element to its right (I think, I don't have my RAZR with me right now) then you're seeing that it's *connected* to another bluetooth device like a headset. If you have nothing that's bluetooth, go into your phone configuration and disable the service.

Posted by: Dave Taylor at April 4, 2007 2:49 AM

With Verizon, just a split-second before the call connects (rings), I hear two beeps. What do they indicate. Does not happen each and every call...maybe 20-30% of the time. Thanks.

Posted by: Jerry at April 17, 2007 2:52 PM

No idea, Jerry. Try going into a Verizon store and see if they can help you out. And if you *do* figure it out, do let us know!

I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY PHONE WHERE I CAN CALL OUT AND THE PERSON ON THE OTHER LINE CAN HEAR ME BUT WHEN THEY TALK I CANT HEAR THEM I CANT EVEN HEAR IT WHEN IT RINGS DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE

Posted by: mike at May 5, 2007 2:38 PM

Mike, I think you're talking about the bluetooth indicator. Also, if you can't hear the other person, sounds like you either have your volume all the way down or you have a physically damaged telephone. Take it into an office of your cellular provider and see what they can figure out.

Posted by: Dave Taylor at May 6, 2007 8:57 PM

I have previously seen these questions but still not able to find the answers.I have 2 symbols on my razor--a square beside the strength indicator that has a upside down house on the top right corner and an upright house on the bottom left hand corner--bluetooth is off on my phone--also a person who looks like they are talking beside my signal ind.--i have no messages on my phone nor do I use voice commands.

I have had a razor phone for about a year from verizon and last week the battery bar disappeared. I charged it a couple days later and it charged but still no battery bar on the screen. I tried to charge the phone again 2 days after this when it said low battery and was beeping and it says unable to charge. Any ideas?

Posted by: Barry at May 18, 2007 7:58 AM

In response to: "what i'm trying to figure out is what 2 little circles with a line at the top that connects them mean. it looks like the old icon logo you would see on vhs tapes. it's driving me crazy"

I'm pretty sure this means you have a new voice mail.

wat does the little coffee cup icon mean

Posted by: ...... at May 25, 2007 4:36 PM

hi,
I have a motorola v3.
there is an icon on the top left hand corner next to the signal strength icon which looks like 3 blue pieces of paper on top of each other.
please could you tell me what it means.
thanks
Sian

Posted by: Sian at May 30, 2007 9:19 AM

The two circles connected by a line at the top (referred to as similar to the VHS symbol)doesn't appear to be for voicemail. I have this symbol on my phone right now. I checked my voicemail and had one. I deleted it and all the saved voicemails but the symbol is still there.

To me, the symbol looks like old-time spectacles. However, I still have no idea what it represents.

Any info would be appreciated.

I have this same icon - a square beside the strength indicator that has a upside down house on the top right corner and an upright house on the bottom left hand corner - anyone know what it means? Thanks.

Posted by: Kim at June 6, 2007 7:51 AM

i have the square symbol with the two house shapes too. in the manual is says --

2. GPRS Indicator – Shows that your phone is
using a high-speed General Packet Radio
Service (GPRS) network connection. GPRS
allows faster data transfer speeds.

Now, I have no clue what that means. Its on page 29. What is it?

In the sent message folder, what is the difference between the envelope with the check mark and the envelope with a green arrow pointing to the upper right? I just started getting the arrow and I thought it meant that the message was queued to go out, but I tried a test to myself twice in a row and got one of each icon - I received both texts...

Posted by: TJ at July 7, 2007 9:46 PM

I have the same question as TJ! What the heck is the difference between the check mark and the green arrow in the sent messages folder?

Question... I've had my razr for over 4 months and just a few days ago a symbol showed up next to the signal strength bars. Sometimes it looks like the upright house and upsidedown house that others described, with two little bars connecting them. Other times it looks like a little blue "E" with two tiny stripes below the "E", one stripe is blue and one stripe is red. Any ideas? Thanks! Great site!

Ashley, as I recall, that means you're in a non-digital cell signal area. It means "analog" and reminds you that you have a multi-mode (digital + analog) phone too.

Hello,

I have a motorola razer W270 and over the weekend after kids have played with my phone a speach bubble icon appeared on my phone. I haven't noticed anything out of ordinary, however I would like to know what that speach bubble icon means?
Thanks for your help :)

Posted by: Marina at September 28, 2008 6:35 PM

Marina,
I believe the speech bubble you are refering to is an indicator that you are signed onto AIM (AOL instant messanger) from your cell phone. If my memory serves me correctly you are being charged while you are connected because you are connected to the internet. I went through this with my teenage daughter and paid a nice healthy bill because of it. Hope this helps!!!!!
