What are all the Mobile Hotmail commands?

Dave, this might be a bit off the pitch, but here in Australia we have Mobile Hotmail, the ability to send SMS messages to the Hotmail server and read our messages directly on our cellphones. But I always forget all the message codes. Can you help me out? Thanks, mate!

Dave's Answer:

Boy, the lengths people will travel so that they're perpetually connected. I have a hard enough time with the email that arrives on my office computer, let alone having email on my cellphone!

But you probably don't care about that, and I can't blame you.

To answer your question I did some digging around on various Microsoft Web sites and found out that the site NineMSN has lots of good information and Q&A about Mobile services, IM, SMS, and, yes, Hotmail.

Their recommendation is that the only command you really need to remember is help: send H to your Hotmail service number and the response should be a nice list of commands.

Not enough? Here's a full list:

CommandExplanation
A ONSet all alerts to ON status
A OFFSet all alerts to OFF status
ISee all unread email messages in your inbox
IASee all messages, unread or otherwise, in your inbox
Msg #The specific message you want to read (replace the "#" with a message number, like "3" or "17" or, if you're a glutton for punishment and have a HUGE inbox, "34324")
quickname message Send a message to the person you specify. Quicknames are friendly names you assign to contacts in your Hotmail Address Book. If you are not using Hotmail quicknames, you can use the person's email address instead.
MRead more of the current message
message Reply to the current email with the specified message
RA message Same as R, but copies the original email message in the response too.
D #Delete the specified message.
quickname Forward the current email to the specified quickname or email address.
NShow the next email message in your inbox
PShow the previous email message in your inbox
HSend help message

Got all that? If your wallet has space, you can also print out a handy pocket reference (PDF) from Microsoft.
