Upload an entire picture/photo album to Facebook?I take a lot of photographs at parties and other events and want to be able to upload them from my computer after editing them. I don't want to upload one-by-one, however, but an entire photo album at a time so that the set are then displayed on Facebook as an album. Is that possible from a Mac or do I need to be on a PC? Facebook keeps changing things so what I write about today might not be valid tomorrow, but fortunately the photo area seems to have stabilized and isn't the center of their attention in terms of new interface elements or design. Phew. I also think that your Facebook friends are doubtless very appreciative that you take the time to actually winnow out the bad pics and edit the others to make 'em look good. I do the same and while it's a bit tedious, the results are definitely worth it. If you're working in either iPhoto or Aperture, there are easy links you can use to select photos within the application and upload them directly to Facebook -- album created as you go! -- and that might be your easiest solution. Not sure how to do that? Type in "upload facebook" within the app help menu and you'll find an Apple tutorial. If you're using something else or just want to work with your web browser and Facebook directly, however, here's how to do it... Once you have all your photos ready to go, go to Facebook in your favorite Web browser. Your home page will look like this: ![]() Fastest way I've found to get to the Photos area is to simply click on your own name on the top left (as I've highlighted). Now on the left look for the "Photos" area: ![]() You can see I've already uploaded 152 photos to Facebook. Not too bad, I've been busy with my camera gear! Once you click on it you'll see your area, complete with all the albums you've created: ![]() The link you want is on the top right, "Upload Photos". It doesn't say "create album" or anything, but don't worry, that'll happen automagically. Click on the button and you'll [probably] get a handy Facebook tip on uploading more than one image at a time: ![]() Click on "Select Photos" with that tip in mind and you'll get a file selection dialog box that sure makes it look like you can only pick a single image to upload: ![]() If you use Command-Click on images, however, you can select as many as you want. In fact, you can click and drag to create a region and it'll automatically select every image in that region. That's what I've done here to quickly pick all five pictures. Ready? Click on the "Open" button and it'll start uploading the images... ![]() While it uploads you can specify the name and features of the new Facebook photo album you're creating. Yes, it's that easy. Type in a better name, add a location if you're so inclined, pick a resolution and determine how widely you want the photos shared. If the upload finishes while you're configuring things, no worry, it just removes the progress bar and you can proceed as desired: ![]() What's cool is that once you're done and click "Create Album" Facebook actually tries to identify the faces of the people in the images: ![]() The first one is my pal Lamar so I go ahead and enter his name so he's "tagged" in the image, but the other faces are irrelevant faces in the crowd, so I just ignore them all. At the bottom of this window is a "Save" button. I click it and... ![]() That's it. Photo album created and all photographs uploaded, album named, location identified and even someone tagged in one of the pics, all with surprisingly little extra effort. Very nice! Also check out:
