I want to include some audio files I've recorded on my site but don't want to just have href links to the .mp3 file. I want some sort of attractive player with start, stop, and progress bars, etc. What are my options?

I need to record a narrated movie of me solving a problem on my Mac OS X system and am a bit stumped about how to proceed. I read on one site that Quicktime Player has this capability, but don't know how to use it. Can you help me out of a bind by showing me how to make a screen recording in Quicktime Player?

A friend of mine sent me a copy of his film on the computer as an "AVI" file and Quicktime complains and I can't watch it on my Mac. Rather than look like a clueless twit I'd rather figure it out before I ask him for help: Quicktime complains that the movie is "not in a format Quicktime Player understands". Can you help me out?
