Cool Apple Keynote presentation tricks and tips
If you're a Mac person and do lots of presentations, you've probably already learned the many benefits of migrating from old-school Microsoft PowerPoint to the slick Keynote presentation application from Apple. It's part of the iWork suite and with very little effort just makes your presentations that much more attractive and polished.
What you might not realize is that there are some very compelling reasons to run it dual-screen rather than the simple, rather retro "mirrored screen" mode when you have a projection system or bigger screen plugged into your computer.

How can I apply a new theme to a Keynote presentation?
I've made the switch from Microsoft PowerPoint to Apple Keynote, but when I open some of my old presentations, they look terrible and are too small. How can I fix them without redoing the slides one-by-one?

The Samsung Q1 Tablet Computer, Four Years Later
This is a guest submission...
For the past 4 years I have patiently waited for a tablet that satisfies my need for portability and my regular computing needs. As a teacher, I actually use the touch interface to communicate with my students. Without a touch screen, I have to plug in my trusty bamboo tablet and I loathe carrying extra stuff while on the road. Predictions that 2010 is the year of the tablet inspire me to watch the chatter of best new tablet. And I can't thank Apple enough for releasing the first (and probably second) generation of the iPad if for no other reason than the also-rans will push a product to market just to capture the iPad spillover. Yet, none of the tablets on the market now, nor those immediately in production can beat my 4 year-old Samsung Q1.
Which is ridiculous. Seriously. As much as I love it, this thing is 4 years old.

How to save an Apple Pages file in Microsoft Word .doc format?
I have switched from Microsoft Office on my Mac OS X system to Apple's iWorks package, which works great except every so often someone complains that my files are in .pages format, not .doc, which is what they want to see. I can't see how to save a file in Pages as an MS Word doc file, but I know it can be done. Help?

How can I merge two PDF files on a Mac?
I teach classes and like to have my handouts be as short as possible, so I will often print them "two up" or "three up" from PowerPoint or Keynote on my Mac OS X system. What I'd really like to do, however, is have the first page be full size and all the subsequent pages be the smaller slides, as a prebuilt PDF file, so that the title on the front looks good. Can I do that on my MacBook or iMac?

How can I turn my Powerpoint presentation into a secure PDF?
We have been pitching a large corporate client on our marketing services for a while now, and and after putting a ton of time into a killer Powerpoint deck, they suddenly want to disseminate it to their staff before signing our contract. I'm not too sure about this, and am thinking that instead of just sending them the preso we could send them a secure PDF, ideally one that would prohibit them copying any data out or printing the content. Is that doable, and if so, how do we get our iMac to do it?

Can I view PowerPoint presentations without having Microsoft PowerPoint?
My colleagues at the university send me PowerPoint presentations all the time, these pesky ".ppt" files, but since I don't have PowerPoint on my computer, I can never open them. Surely there's some sort of solution that doesn't involve me paying hundreds of dollars?

How do I get rid of hyperlinked text in PowerPoint?
Microsoft PowerPoint is driving me a bit crazy right now on my Mac because every time I type in a web site URL it turns it into a hyperlink, complete with different formatting and color. Surely there's some way to turn this feature off??

Can I create Powerpoint slides on my PC and play them on a DVD player?
Dave, I'd like to know if there's a program available that will let me create a document on the computer and save it to a DVD-ROM disk so that it's playable on a DVD machine? I created a Powerpoint document and saved it on a DVD, but it won't play on my DVD machine, the unit only plays the music. Thank you.
