Earlier you talked about the online aspects of how to host a social or business meetup, talking about how to pick a venue, coming up with a group theme, scheduling, and how to actually invite people or spread the word about your event. (see how to organize a meetup or meeting). All very helpful, but please do share, how do you have a meetup of people who probably have never met each other run smoothly?

I have been inspired by some of the evening meetings I've attended, both those that are 'meetups' and those that are more informal. I want to host one of my own but don't know how to start. Can you give me some tips to get started, Dave?

We're living in a noisy world. There a millions of blogs, and photos and radio shows and podcasts and websites, and... whew! There's a lot of stuff out there. So if you're just starting out, or even if you've been doing it for awhile, you probably wonder how you're going to get noticed.
The bad news is if it was easy, you'd be noticed already. The good news is that there's never been a greater time in the history of the world, than right now, to effectively get noticed without having to spend millions on advertising.
