Hi Dave. I am looking for two gently used MacBook laptops for my teen daughters. Personal computers would greatly facilitate their studies as they enter their senior year in High School and beyond.
General preferred specifications:
1. 2008 model year or newer
2. 13.3" screen
3. white, black or aluminum body
Please let me know if you or anyone you know has recently upgraded and might be looking to sell their old computer.
I'm confused. I received a bunch of different emails from Craigslist that are posting confirmation receipts for things I actually haven't put up for sale on Craigslist. I clicked on the link to see what was going on and all I got was a "loading" message, and it wasn't even on the craigslist.com domain. What's it all mean, Dave? Is this some sneaky Craigslist phishing attack from some cybercriminals, or a script virus or what?
I read online that one of the best places to sell my used iPad 2, now that I have a new iPad 3 [ed: "new iPad". No "3" involved], is to Amazon.com. I understand that they pay in store credit, but heck, I spend over $100/mo on Amazon, I'm sure I can spend a big credit! So is it a good deal, and if so, how do I get started?
Just bought a new Apple iPad 2 and want to prep your old iPad 1 for resale? You might be lucky and sell it to a relative (or be really nice and give it to them, for that matter), in which case it isn't a crisis if some of your information remains on the device, but if you're tapping into Craigslist or eBay, you'll want to know exactly how to reformat the iPad back to its out-of-the-box state for the new user.
I've been selling off lots of furniture and old books through Craigslist, and encountered something I hadn't experienced in the past: a buyer asking if they could pay with their credit card, rather than with cash. At first I was alarmed, but then I realized that might well just be how they budget their money. So can I accept credit cards? I do have a PayPal account...
As a happy new iPad owner, I don't really need my Amazon Kindle device any more, so I plan on selling it on Craigslist for whatever I can get for it. Honestly, I think that the Kindle instantly obsoleted once they released the Kindle app for the iPad, but that's another story. My question is: how do I reset my Kindle DX so that the new owner can't buy things against my Amazon account?
I used to be into eBay to sell stuff, but now my friends keep telling me that Craigslist is the way to go. Since it lets me side-step the whole shipping issue, and definitely seems to lower the chance that I'll be ripped off if I'm meeting someone locally to do the deal. Do you ever sell stuff on Craigslist, Dave, and if so, can you offer some tips?
I was trying to sell an old laptop on Craigslist and got so confused trying to differentiate between legitimate and scam offers. For example, one guy from France offered to send me a money order and let me cash it before I sent out the computer, and was willing to pay more than I was asking. Another said he was happy to pay via Paypal if I just sent him my Paypal account ID. Were either of those legit? If not, how do the scams work?
Hi, I went on craigslist.com and saw that they were giving away a pool table. I emailed the guy and asked for some pictures and he sent me an email back saying that he had posted them on his blog and put the web address in there. I clicked on the address and it said that I had to install something to see the pictures, I did not, but I really wanted to see the pictures. I clicked it again but this time it took me to ask.com. Could he have just put the wrong web address or was he trying to give me a virus? Thank you
I'm selling a lightly used home theater system on Craigslist and after a week of no activity and no interest I sudden got an email from someone who says they'll pay full price plus a few dollars if I'll accept a money order. Now obviously that's suspicious, but I dunno, maybe it's legit. Should I accept a money order as payment for stuff I am selling on Craigslist?
I want to know if there's some way to automate searching the craigslist site with a shell script or similar so that I can keep an eye on it and know when certain rare auction items show up for sale?
