How do I disable audio feedback for MS Internet Explorer?

I'm trying to play my music CD on my PC because I need to make a tape of it to send to the copyright office. So I'm running the headphones out of my laptop into the line IN on my little boombox and I'm making the tape, right, but guess what? Every time I click on a frickin' hyperlink in Internet Explorer there's this huge "click!" coming out onto the tape! How rude is that?...
