I really like my Kindle Fire and have found that I'm reading more now that it's so easy to carry even the longest book with me. Some of the books I read are okay, but there's an occasional ebook that's just terrific. When that happens, I'd like to loan it to my Dad so he can sample it and either read it -- he's a quick reader -- or buy it for himself. I remember reading that one of the features of the Kindle is that you can loan people ebooks, but I have no idea how to do it. Can you explain?

Every time I go to Amazon.com I see that the Kindle version of a book I want to buy is less expensive than the print edition. Coupled with it being more environmentally friendly (no shipping, no printing, no hassle with it taking up space on my shelf) I'd like to switch over. But I don't want to buy an actual Kindle device. Is there a way to read Kindle ebooks on my Mac or PC system?

I have a Kindle DX that I really like and use to read books. I also have an Apple iPad and occasionally want to pick up my book and continue it on the larger iPad screen. Problem is, when I buy a book at Amazon, it asks which device I want it to appear on and when I pick my Kindle, it doesn't show up on the iPad. One feature of iOS 5 that I haven't seen anyone write about is the new Newsstand application that, I think, lets me subscribe to magazines on my iPad or iPhone and automatically receive issues as they're released. As someone who flies a lot, it sounds great. How do I subscribe to a magazine in Newsstand on my iPhone?

I love my Apple iPad. I think it's way better than the Kindle can ever be, and in addition to using it for games and Internet, I also want to be able to read books on the iPad, but I don't want to pay for the books through iTunes, which is expensive. Instead, there are tons of free-to-download books on Google Books and similar. Can I get any of those and read them on my iPad?

As a happy new iPad owner, I don't really need my Amazon Kindle device any more, so I plan on selling it on Craigslist for whatever I can get for it. Honestly, I think that the Kindle instantly obsoleted once they released the Kindle app for the iPad, but that's another story. My question is: how do I reset my Kindle DX so that the new owner can't buy things against my Amazon account?

Now that my son is using our Amazon Kindle, I would like to have some control over what they check out in the online bookstore and, more importantly, would like to turn off their Internet access from the device, but as far as I can tell, there's no control at all. This is just bizarre. I have been adding PDF documents to my Kindle so I can review them while on the road, and suddenly after having everything neatly organized, they've vanished from the device. In fact, all i can see now are books, everything else has vanished completely from the Kindle system. Here's the odd thing: when I hook up the Kindle DX to my computer via USB, I see everything. So what's up??

Most product review are written shortly after the product is announced, but we thought it would be interesting to give our assessment of the Kindle 2 after using it for a year, and talk about how it has changed our lifestyle and the way we do business.

The Kindle 2 was first announced on February 24, 2009. We placed our order soon after it was announced, but had to wait a couple weeks for it to ship because of the intense demand. Our home looks like a library with books scattered from one end to the next, so we felt this would a good investment. The price we paid was $359 plus extra for incidentals, bringing the total outlay to over $400. Other than missing out on the major price reduction to $259 base price in October, we have not been disappointed.

On a personal note, once we received the Kindle 2, Deb instantly laid claim to the device, and Tom was only granted occasional visitation rights. Deb has since logged several hundred hours of intimate one-on-one time with "Johann," the name she has given to her Kindle, and the following are thoughts and observations from this extended road test.

If you are still clinging to your love for the printed word, there are several features on the Kindle that make it worth giving up the ink-on-paper version of books.
