A guest review by contributing editor Gary Moskoff…
Being an executive on the go in the Rocky Mountains has presented its challenges. I move around a lot, meeting with partners, prospective clients, long-term clients from Boulder to Denver, Colorado and from Silicon Valley to New York. When the time is right to close a deal, the time is right. It’s a sense I have; typically I see it coming. I am able to feel the anxiety and excitement that comes with closing the deals that drive our businesses. That moment when everyone around the table is ready to move forward, I’ve been there more than once.
It can be hard to navigate closing the deal, and timing is everything.
If you know the moment I’m describing, if there is nothing you enjoy more than closing the BIG deal, don’t leave home without your Neat Receipt scanner.
Recently, I had been working on a deal for some time, the opportunity presented itself to move forward and I knew we had to move quickly. Keeping everyone focused, we printed the agreements out at my now partners office, signed them and then scanned them into my Mac using my Neat Receipt scanner. The documents were easily emailed over to my partner for signing on the coast. The deal was done and we all moved forward in partnership.
Over the past 3 months or so I’ve been playing with the scanner Neat sent for me to review and although I had to load and use Neat’s proprietary software, I’ve truly enjoyed the value of the scanner which sells on their website for $199.95.
I’m still not sure why a company would create a walled garden in today’s fight to be relevant and open, but I can’t complain much about it. Other scanning applications and products keep information you scan in their proprietary system and I’m sure the OCR, Optical Character Recognition capability plays a major role in their need to remain a proprietary solution.
However, the fact that I am forced to adapt my lifestyle, instead of having a product that simply integrates with the software I am already using, is a nuisance, but when the product is this good, we need to indulge them.
The Neat Receipt scanner is one I’m willing to overlook when it comes to this proprietary stance due to its ease of use, form factor, and overall usability, which is simply amazing. Toss it in your bag, you won’t even notice it is there, it’s light, compact and at the end of the day, their software is well done…
In the past, I’ve had to practically live at FedEx Office. Recently, before I acquired my Neat Receipt scanner, I sold my company while on “vacation” in Florida. We actually closed the deal during my flight to Florida, then I landed and headed to a FedEx Office where I “hung out” until everything was signed, sealed and delivered around midnight that evening.
Between the Neat Receipt scanner and a few other solutions I keep in my arsenal, those days are gone forever. I will NEVER again waste hours at a FedEx Office waiting to scan a signature page or alter a document!
With every contract we close, every agreement I sign, I am reminded just how important the Neat Receipt scanner has become in my fight to move quicker and faster than the larger competitors we are up against every day. If you are like I am, or even if you work for a larger, multi-national company and prefer to scan your receipts on the road instead of waiting to arrive at the office, be sure to acquire the Neat Receipt scanner – you won’t regret it!
