As a practical joke, my son changed the language preference for Siri from English to what I think is Chinese. Whatever it is, I can’t figure out how to reset Siri back to American English. Help!
Kids and tech. My son has done the same thing to me, changing Siri to Spanish from English. I actually think it’s a neat way to practice a foreign language (he’s studying Spanish in school) but since my own Spanish is a bit rusty, it’s definitely easier to work with Siri when it’s set to English.
Which leaves me with the same puzzle you have: how do you reset the language from whatever it is currently to English?
Turns out that it’s easy, and you don’t need to speak Chinese or Spanish to do so…
First off, here’s what I see when Siri is set to Spanish:
To fix the language selection, I’ll just need to jump over to “Settings” and scroll down to “General”:
Tap on “General” and here’s what you’ll see:
You can guess. Yup. Tap on “Siri”…
Now I can see the language setting for Siri that’s set to Spanish rather than English.
At this point it’s pretty easy to fix it. Just tap on the Language option and it’ll show you an extensive list of different languages that can be supported:
Choose “English (United States)” if you want American English and you’re done.
That’s it. Fixed.
Next time you tap on the Siri button, here’s what you’ll see:
Good luck and don’t be too upset with your son. It’s pretty typical nowadays for our kids to be far more tech savvy than we are. ¿Comprendé?
