It is indeed possible to at least make it pretty hard for Pinterest users to repin your photos and other images onto Pinterest, but it's not possible to completely prevent it because they can always drag an image off their Web browser -- or take a screenshot -- and upload it, but if you're just trying to block those users who have the "Pin It" bookmarklet in their browser, yes, that's doable with a single line of code.
My question, however, is why? Perhaps a smarter move would be to use a digital watermark or similar to actually identify your photos as being from your site, something where along the bottom of each image it says "© 2012 JohnDoe Photography" or just includes your domain name, like "ColoradoPortraits.com". That way people can share your images and you can gain fans and followers through their efforts!
Want to know more about easy digital watermark tools? Lots of photo editors offer this sort of tool (check "help") or you can search the Mac App Store or Microsoft.com for tools of this nature. The easiest of them are a simple drag-and-drop process once you've got it set up properly!
Okay, back to Pinterest. To block people from using the "Pin It" bookmarketlet on your site, simply add the following line of code somewhere in the <head> section:
<meta name="pinterest" content="nopin" />
When someone goes to pin your page, instead of it working, they get the message:
If you want to block pinning from every page on your site, note that you'll need to add that line of HTML on every page. Hope that helps you out and good luck with your photography!

Why? is a good question. I have played around on Pinterest, and it seems like each photo that someone pins links back to its original site. That seems desirable to me.
When I drag an image off of a website it is always a low density image anyway,i.e, kilobytes instead of megabytes, so it isn't of much use.
