PC to Sony PSP: How do I download music?

Dave, Help! How do I download music from my HP Windows computer to a Sony PSP computer? The system says it is downloaded but the PSP says that there are no tracks available?

Dave's Answer:

Hmmm... I'm trying to figure out whether researching this question would justify me buying a Sony PSP and claiming it as a tax deduction on next year's taxes (a curiously apropos question since today is April 15th, when we file income taxes here in the United States). :-)

More seriously, here are the steps you'll need to go through to get your music to download successful from your Windows PC to your new Sony PSP unit:

  1. Connect the PSP to your PC with a USB cable. (about $10: buy a USB cable for your PSP)
  2. Press the "home" button on the PSP (it's a tiny button to the lower left of the screen) then use the left-right directional buttons to find "Settings", then the up-down buttons to find "USB Connection" on the PSP.
  3. Press the "X" button (you got it, the round button with the "X" on it) and your PSP should display "USB Connection".
  4. In a moment or two your computer should tell you that a new USB device has been connected, then show you a new generic hard drive, usually E: or F:
  5. Click on the drive letter that corresponds to the PSP unit.
  6. Now create a new folder on that drive and name it "psp".
  7. Within the new "psp" folder create another folder, and name it "music".
  8. Copy your desired mp3 files into the new "music" folder.
  9. When you're done copying your desired music tracks, press the "O" button on the PSP to get out of USB connect mode.
Now you're ready to go! Use the left-right arrows to move to the music area, then the up-down arrows to find "Memory Stick". Chose that folder by pressing the "X" button again, and you should be able to find all your favorite music!

Note that the PSP running older firmware (firmware is the "operating system" of the PSP) does not support any Windows Media formats i.e WMA & WMV, so any music you have in that format must be converted to MP3 before copying to your PSP. Fortunately, Sony's very own Image Converter 2.1 can convert all your music with a very simple GUi and will then also manage all the measuring and transfering for you too.

If Image Converter doesn't seem up to snuff, then there are various other solutions for converting audio files, including the free Windows application Switch, written up here: How to convert WMA audio files into MP3 audio files.

If you really want to play WMA format audio files, make sure you have the latest version of the firmware from Sony (see below for update instructions).

That should get you up and rockin' in no time!

Posted by: dave at May 10, 2005 9:30 PM

To copy itunes music to your PSP your're are going to need to convert the itune which is in mp4 to mp3.

To do that your may want to take a look at the various ways of doing that at the bottom of this page:

Good luck.

Not sure what to say, Zach. My PC (Windows XP) has the drivers already installed. Perhaps someone else can offer advice? I mean, there's nothing special about the PSP - it just shows up as an external hard drive, basically.

What I do know is that I need a bigger memory stick not the 32mb that comes with it and that I need a USB cable which I got when I bought the system. Do I need anything else?

Just the other day I tried to transfer the music videos by connecting the USB to PC and PSP and right clicked on a music video and selected Copy to CD or device. And it was copying and I did have my memory stick in the PSP but when it did reach 100% the PC said error did not complete burn or something. And when I was in the home screen of my PSP I notice that memory capactity was not 32mb any more it was 21mb. And there's nothing under anything photos, videos, music, or games. How do I get these 9mb of memory back? PLEASE HELP ME!!

I have Musicmatch Jukebox on my PC and it says nothing more than I have to install a plug-in for my portable device in order for everything to work. I went to the website and they don't have a plug-in for PSP. What the heck? I know the answer is probably sitting right in front of me but I can't see it so please help. Thanks.

Bobby, that doesn't help us figure out what's going on. What steps did you do that worked, and what didn't work? What do you mean by "still does not work"? Are you saying that the songs aren't showing up on the PSP even though it appears you copied them? If so, make sure you go to MUSIC then *click on* "Memory Stick" to get into that folder and see your MP3 files (why they don't just show up without having to go into the Memory Stick escapes me).

I got the music on my psp and i can play it. The only problem is is that i can only have like 6 songs on the memory stick. Is there some way to make the files smaller or do i just need a bigger memory card?

Posted by: Bob Smith at September 25, 2005 4:24 AM

Bob, you just need a bigger memory stick, I'm sorry to report. If you figure that the average music file is even 7MB in size, then a 32MB Memory Stick only has about 29MB available after file system formatting, etc,. and that means you can fit four songs on the memory stick. Yeah, for $150 get a 512MB stick and you'll have space for about 70 songs, which is a bit better!

Posted by: Dave Taylor at September 25, 2005 5:33 AM

I downloaded the music fine and copied it to my psp. It said it copied and the space is taken up on my memory stick but when i try to play the music it says There Are No Tracks. What do i do. Plz help me.

Posted by: Kevin Deaton at September 25, 2005 5:54 PM

lol, after reading a few comments, it makes me wonder if the people who ask "where do i buy a usb cable?" or "whats the generic drive?, "how come my update wont work?". First of all, you select usb mode on the GUI and press cross to enter it, not circle, then to exit, press circle. Also has anyone actually read they're psp manuals? And one last thing, you dont want to update your psp, all they are is firmware updates, which means, put simply, a firewall. Now you might be thinking, "Awsome, a firewall! My psp is safe!", not true, all it is doing is stopping you from playing homebrew applications, for instance you cant play a good game of chess on the road if you update, or you cant play some good old Mario Bros. or Metroid, or Zelda using emulators for the respective systems. Now some think that playing a game on an emulator is stealing, and i agree, but if the game is no longer sold, then what? Well, I guess that means your deprived from playing the game, unless you want to steal it from someone else, but that is rather foolish. Playing a game on an emulator is perfectly fine if the game is no longer sold, because the company no longer makes a profit because they stopped making it. Now, I do beleive I've been on a bit of a rant and i must take my leave, cya.

P.S. you have a manual for a reason, use it.

I have windows media player and it says in the righthand corner how much memory all my songs take up. It says it will take up 1.33 Gb. Is There any way to make my songs take up less space or do I just need a VERY big memory card.

Posted by: Josh at October 19, 2005 1:25 PM

Amazing. Reading a lot of the questions above makes me realize that a lot of you are out of your depth relating to connecting, converting files, etc. i.e. simply using PC's! It is not that hard. Try typing your question into say, google. Forget windows media player, etc. this has nothing to do with converting files to MP3 format and downloading them via USB. By the way "GUI" Graphical User Interface......a window! dur.

Posted by: Tricky at October 19, 2005 1:27 PM

Josh, I'm afraid that MP3's, like any other music files, take up space, perhaps more than you'd expect. A typical person with a 32MB Memory Stick appears to only fit about one CD's worth of music before the space runs out. If you have 1.3Gb, you just have a lot of music (Of course, I have about 3GB on my computer, but I also have an iPod that can take that amount of disk space without a hiccup :)

Posted by: Dave Taylor at October 19, 2005 2:51 PM

I Have my music split up into groups but it still says that there are no tracks available in those groups

Posted by: Jerry Stevens at October 23, 2005 9:04 PM

I'm not sure what you mean by "groups": as far as I know, the PSP can only handle one level of folders, not subfolders. Also remember that you'll see "Memory Stick" as your Music entry: you have to *click* on that to see the individual tracks you've downloaded.

Posted by: Brittany at November 3, 2005 7:43 PM

Samantha, if you can't create a folder on the PSP Memory Stick then you might have flipped the 'read only' switch on the stick itself. Check: it's a very small slider on the device (really tiny). If not, make sure you're logged into your Windows system as administrator and try again.

Tim and Brittany: You can either use software like PSPWare (use the search box on this site to find more information about PSPWare, it's a cheap shareware app that makes managing data on your PSP a breeze) or find the actual MP3 files (and, yes, they really should be in that format, not another music format like AAC or WMA) and copy them into the MUSIC folder on the PSP itself.

Posted by: darren at November 6, 2005 4:58 PM

ok heres the easiest way to get any songs onto ur psp, download sonic stage(made by sony, used for sony mp3 players), then when u get done installing it when u open it up have it search your computer for music files, then click transfer, then just scroll up and down, click the song u want, click the right arrow, and its transfering to ur psp, u can edit ur folders and names on the right side of the screen.

Dude, what the heck. I can't get past USB Mode and I'm really getting frustrated Dave. Please tell me what else is needed besides a freakin USB cable because I ain't getting no music.

Posted by: Kebo James at November 17, 2005 2:47 AM

If you're having problems, it might be because you have an older version of Windows (the PSP really prefers Windows XP or Mac OS X) or a bad USB port on your computer or a bad USB cable, all of which I've heard of as problems.

A great way to debug this problem: try to plug your PSP into someone else's computer and see if it works better.

The problem may be that I only have Win.Me.,anyhow-It said that a few songs were complete, but after doing what you said- mem/music, it says-Memory Stick/ free space 0, and Music/0 tracks. I had space before I downloaded, so what happened? Can I delete the music?{it reads-this folder cannot be deleted /contains data of types other than music}.Can you advise?! Thanks, Jamie

how do you do step 8 because i can not find where my mp3s are

Posted by: Tim at November 28, 2005 12:39 AM

Tim and everyone, assuming you have your music files in the correct format (MP3, not WMP) and transfer them into your MUSIC folder on the PSP properly, then you'll find them in the "Memory Stick" folder in MUSIC on the PSP when you've unhooked everything. It's very confusing, because if you're like me, you probably expect the songs to be listed in the MUSIC folder itself, but instead you just see the entry "Memory Stick". Dig into it, and I bet you find all your favorite songs ready to play.

what's GUI?

Posted by: Hallye at November 29, 2005 1:25 AM

By GUI I mean the "graphical user interface", but really, when I read the directions again, what I should say is that you need to use the little HOME button to get to the top level menu on the PSP itself, then use the left or right arrow to move to the SETTINGS option, then use the up or down arrow to find "USB CONNECT". Once you're there (again, on your PSP screen) select the USB CONNECT by pushing once on the "X" button, the bottom of the four buttons on the right side of the PSP screen. Hope that's a bit clearer!

Sam, modern Macs, like modern PCs, can work with USB 1.0 or USB 2.0, so they're definitely quite compatible with the Sony PSP. You'll be fine with just about any PSP to computer cable.

Cody, I don't know how you could do that, you need to have a computer in the middle somehow. Transfer iPod -> PC (or Mac), then transfer PC -> PSP.

Can you give a step by step in how to download CDs to your psp? I puchased the PSPware for windows but still havent figured out how to get my ITUNES songs onto this thing!!

Posted by: Vicki at December 11, 2005 9:34 PM

Not sure what Morpheus actually is, Jane, but I think it's a p2p network, and if so, I don't offer support for peer to peer tools because of the very high incidence of illegally copied content on those networks.

Dude, you need to either enable WMA format on your (firmware 2.6 only) PSP, or you need to convert it into MP3 format. This can be done with an audio converter: try download.com for one.

Vicki, that's a great question. I'll try to field it in the next few days or so... Good luck!

I have just bought a PSP. i connected the USB to the PC. a window pops up, and i tell it to open files. in the PSP file, i made a file and named it "MUSIC". Then i went to my Windows Media Player 10. Then i synced the music into the PSP. The music went to the PSP and it was on the same screen as the PSP folder. I dragged the music into the PSP folder. then into the MUSIC folder. The songs showed up with an icon of the Windows Media Player. i htink that may be the problem.

Can you tell me how i can make the songs into MP3 format? If i need to download any programs or something, please tell me how to download them, and they must be free. also, plz make the instructions clear. it is in your hands to make my life good with my PSP. So plz help me. i will be forever grateful to you for this.

Posted by: andy at December 23, 2005 9:24 PM

Oi, Dave. Most of this stuff seems like it should work, but I have a tiny little problem. Every time I try to transfer music into the Music folder, I get the following error:

Cannot copy: -Music-: Cannot find the specified file.
Make sure you specify the correct path or filename.

Now, I thought it might be an isolated problem. Sadly, it isn't... this happens with ALL of my music files. They're all in mp3 format... so I have no idea what's going on. Help, please?

Thank goodness that I googled this site. I just bought my son a psp for xmas and now we were trying to download music to it. Fortunately I found the answers here, but my big question is or I should say my big rant is... for $300.00 I think the least they could do is give you decent instructions and then they send you to their website for additonal info but all it does is give you an overview to buy more product. I would think they should make users write their instruction files. Maybe then people would actually know what to do.!
Thank you Dave.

Hey Dave,

I just got my new psp for Christmas and the second I got it I put all my iTunes songs on my psp in my music folder in the psp folder. But they dont show up on the psp. How to I convert my iTunes music files into MP3 files? Just give me links, or programs, or anything I can download or buy so i can convert these files! Thanks!

Posted by: Grant at December 27, 2005 11:00 AM

Just what it says, Jarrel: the PSP knows "USB 2.0", which is a faster communications system than the older USB 1.0, and you've plugged your PSP into a 1.0 port. (they're different hw). You can safely ignore it, but if you can figure out where your USB 2.0 port is on your computer, it will work better.

Posted by: Timothy at January 19, 2006 5:58 PM

look to all those people who dont no wat to do this is the simple answer:

on the psp go to 'settings' and then 'usb connection' then just leave it.

1)plug in the usb to the top of your psp and the other end to front of the computer. (a slot at he bottom)

2) go to 'my computer' in the start menu

3) under 'devises with removeable storage' there will be drive 'E:' open it and 2 folders will appear. 'MP root' and 'psp'

4)open 'psp' and then more files will appear.

5) open 'music'

6) finnaly drag and drop your selected music files to here.

how do i put videos on the psp

Posted by: angelo at January 30, 2006 8:31 AM

Let's see....

First off, when you hook your PSP up to your computer, make sure that you put the PSP into USB Connection mode. It should actually display "USB Connection" on the screen.

Having said that, Windows XP is the only version of Windows that officially supports the PSP, though there are some workarounds if you're running earlier versions (see http://www.askdavetaylor.com/about_psp_win98.html for example)

Finally, Angelo, I have lots of information on the site about PSP video. Please start here:

http://www.askdavetaylor.com/about_psp_video.html

Good luck!

Posted by: Error! at February 1, 2006 10:01 PM

Nico, you're right. You can't use the Internet connection on the PSP to download games, at least not that I've seen. You also can't download music, photos, movies, etc, directly onto the PSP.

Error, there's nothing wrong with asking for help! If you're having oodles of problems with your PSP transfers, please check out:

Posted by: chris at February 9, 2006 1:45 PM

oh i forgot you said click the round button but i never saw a round button

Posted by: chris at February 9, 2006 1:47 PM

Hi Chris. Sorry you're having a hard time of things but perhaps figuring out some neat features of your PSP will help you out. First off, to get music out of iTunes, you probably need to convert it to MP3:

http://www.askdavetaylor.com/about_itunes_mp3.html

then you need to learn how to transfer MP3 files to your PSP, and I have a variety of articles on that topic here:

http://www.askdavetaylor.com/about_psp_music.html

Finally, the "round button" is the button with the circle on it: it's one of the four buttons on the right controller area of the PSP.

Posted by: A dude in need at February 22, 2006 7:54 PM

Dude in need, sounds like you might well want to reformat your memory stick *with the PSP* not your PC. It'll delete you game saves (unfortunately) but it'll also build the correct filesystem and folders onto the device so you won't have to worry about them in the future. Please see:

http://www.askdavetaylor.com/about_psp_memory_format.html

Posted by: Dave Taylor at February 23, 2006 12:51 AM

Dave, I have a psp with a 2gb memory stick, I followed your instructions for getting music on the stick and it worked great. Then when my little lad turned the psp on, the memory stick had dissapeared, the psp kept showing no memory stick inserted. We tried to reformat the stick but again the psp said there wasn't a stick inserted. Can you help?

Posted by: keith Jones at February 26, 2006 10:26 AM

Sounds like you have a bad stick, I'm sorry to say, Keith. I'd make sure it's "seated" properly in the PSP (pull it out, push it in again, gently but firmly) and if you still can't get it to work, get it replaced.

Posted by: Dave Taylor at February 26, 2006 8:33 PM

Please Help! I've formatted the memory stick in the PSP and I've downloaded some free mp3 converter software (I think!). What do I do now to copy and convert some music files from my husbands itunes music library to my sons PSP. Once you download the converter software there are no instructions as to how to use it. I wish Santa had bought him something else!!

Posted by: anisa at March 19, 2006 11:27 AM

What I have learnt (via much frustration) is that the reason music is not recognised (or playable) on your PSP is that it has been transferred in the wrong format - it must be mp3 (not WMA). After reading this page,I corrected my mistake and converted some tracks to the correct format - one that PSP can see (even though wma files can be transferred, they remain 'invisible i.e. unplayable. Your memory gets used up and can't play music or see the tracks) I used 'limeware.com' (as recommended above). I have now listened to tracks on PSP for the first time since purchase 6 months ago - wow.... this information is so frustratingly hard to get and use....

i looked at your instructions and they don't say how to get your music to play after you download it. Every time i go to the memory stick it says no tracks. I spent 22 mg on music and that's almost all my memory. help me out here.

Posted by: killman at April 25, 2006 9:56 AM

BaBz, sounds to me like you might just not have enough space on your Memory Stick for the files: audio takes up a few megabytes per song, and video, man, that can be pretty huge: a 90 minute video can easily be 400MB or larger.

Killman, most often I find that you have the files on your PSP but rather than it just show you the tracks, it makes you select the Memory Stick once you're in the MUSIC area of the device. So go to MUSIC, look for Memory Stick, then select it by pressing the "X" button. Then, hopefully, the audio tracks will be visible!

Posted by: sylvio at April 26, 2006 4:47 PM

Sylvio, you can, but you'd need to copy the music off the iPod or out of iTunes, then copy it onto the PSP. Try this link:

http://www.askdavetaylor.com/about_itunes_mp3.html

And in terms of not finding the tracks, could it be in the wrong format? iPods often work with AAC format which isn't (yet) supported by the PSP device itself.

Hi,
I have seen a few people wanting to run audio files over their home network. I could not find much about this online so wrote this little script to create RSS feeds (XML files) that your psp can link to and pull the music over your network.

You need to have IIS running on your home pc that contains the music, enable .asp scripting and write permissions on the folder that contains the script below.

Save the script below as index.asp and call it using the ip address of your local web server (IIS).

Once you have your IIS working, edit the script below to suit your network IP address and location of your music files.

Run the script via your pc or your PSP by clicking the link.
I have found that XML files seem to limit the items to 100 per file, so the script will split up the songs into groups of 100 per file.

Using your PSP click the links to the RSS files and add them to your psp.
Now you can use your psp to play the song files listed.

Good luck........................

Hi, Dave. A lonnnnng question--not a comment--from a music moron: I have almost no $ at this time and don't want (to carry) an MP3 player unless I'm forced to get one. I have WMP 10 and happily learned to start downloading only the single tracks I wanted to my PC from the MSN Music site just before they hamstrung me with the changeover. I don't want a subscription and just want to listen to/burn my own compilation CDs with one player--hoping it could be WMP. The music I listen to is ecclectic and I haven't even found much of it yet on most sites (40's big band, vintage dance, 70's Christian worship....) I tried Napster before MSN Music and that was how I found out I couldn't download to WMP (and became suspicious of every other site). And I can't figure out if I can buy from any site (even Rhapsody or Zune) without using their player. Please help! Going under!!!

Posted by: Oscar Baldizon at January 6, 2007 1:42 PM

I converted WMA music files to MP3!

I used your instructions above, using Switch, which worked for any songs without protected content. For the wma files with the lisence protecting them:

I burned the songs to a cd using Windows Media Player. Then I imported the disc into iTunes. Then I opened the iTunes file where the songs were saved. Now they are m4a files instead of WMA. The I tried to convert them to mp3 with switch. Switch wanted me to go to www.nch.com.au/components/aacdec.exe and download and install that file - which took about 2 seconds. Then Switch was able to convert the songs to mp3.

Posted by: james at February 16, 2007 12:26 AM

For the no tracks errors, seems a depth of two folders is all that's allowed. For example, if under your Music folder, you had a group name folder, then an album name folder, then the mp3 tracks, the PSP would indicate no tracks found for the group name folder. But, if you delete the group name folder, then copy the album name folder (with the tracks in it) to the Music folder, the tracks are recognized, and playable.

When I connect my PSP to my computer and put it in USB mode, my computer only recognizes it when I use a USB power adaptor. However, when I do this, my computer reads the PSP as a "removable disk" with no 0 bytes space used, 0 bytes available. I cannot create folders on my memory stick or save files from this computer. My PSP does work on my friends' computers, however. I have tried reformatting my memory stick several times with the PSP, but nothing seems to make it work on my computer. Help would be greatly appreciated.

why do when i hook my psp usb to my computer it says hard drive G?

Posted by: luster matthews at May 7, 2007 6:56 PM

Amer, and others, if you have done every step, and if you are working with original mp3 files that you have already tested on your PC and know they work, I have no idea why your PSP would be complaining about it. Note that I have a variety of different tutorials on working with the PSP and music on this site too. Check out:

http://www.askdavetaylor.com/about_psp_music.html

Luster, it doesn't really matter what drive letter is assigned to your PSP: that's just a function of how many different devices you have configured / hooked up. If you have two drives, and one is partitioned into two virtual drives, for example, that could be C: D: and E: right there, and your CDROM might be F: and your DVD drive (if they're separate like they are on one of my PCs) could then be G:. Hook up a PSP and it'd be H: !!!

Ok, Checklist:
1. Is the psp connected to your computer? (is there a wire going into the top of your psp and the other wire in the front/back of your computer?)
2. Hit HOME which is on the bottom of your psp heres how it looks [x[__]::] on the bottom under monitor:
[HOME] [-]VOL[+] PSP [] [musicsymble][SELECT][START]
CLICK HOME
3. then scroll up and click "USB Connection" then
4. watch computer screen and wait for "psp connected" "driver installed" that stuff
5. THEN FOLLOW INFO ON THIS GUIDE ABOVE
=)

Posted by: Tim at May 15, 2007 6:23 PM

Here's the key that I think many of the posters are missing: If your music is organized by artist > album, the PSP will not find the tracks. Move the MP3 files under the artist folder (remove the album folders) and the PSP will be able to play the files.

IT COULD BE ON A HARDDRIVE OF THIS COMPUTER, ON A NETWORK, OR ON A DIFFERENT COMPUTER ON YOUR HOME NETWORK. CHECK TO MAKE SURE THAT THE DISK IS PROPERLY INSERTED,OR THAT YOU ARE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET OR HOME NETWORK, AND THEN TRY AGAIN. IF IT STILL CANNOT BE LOCATED, THE INFORMATION MAY HAVE BEEN MOVED TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION."
THEN ANOTHER MESSAGE FOLLOWS SAYING "THE SHORTCUT 'REMOVABLE DISK(E).LNK' REFERS TO A LOCATION THAT IS UNAVAILABLE.

Hi.
I've had my PsP, since they came out.
I've looked everywere for the disc that came with it, but cannot find it.
My reason for posting this is, is there a way, you can send music and photo's without this disc?
I have the USB cable, but when I plug it in, it asks for a disc.
Any help will be much appriciated! (SP?)

Posted by: bartek at December 2, 2007 7:53 AM

I found out how to put music on my psp by accident, see what you do is' put your memory stick into your computer, and click on your windows media player and then at the top it will say sync. Click sync and refresh your device then it will say "drag items here" to create a list to "USB Ms Reader". When you have dragged all of your songs to your sync list, go to start sync at the bottom of the page. When all of your songs have finished sychronizing your muisc to the psp, take out the memory stick and put it back in the psp. Then plug your USB cable into your computer and go to USB connection, when you have went to that on psp it will say USB mode.On your computer, go to start and then click to computer. Then click on the file for Memory Stick (J:) and you will see the music you have put on your sync list. Click on you music an put in the file that says music and you should have music on your psp. I Hope this will help you guys.

1st of all you can't connect to the internet with out a wireless access point.. in other words you need to have wireless internet connectivity. If you have wireless then you need to add your wep key to the psp or whatever security you have. Bootom line your psp has to talk to your WAP (Wireless Access Point)

Dave- The cable necessary to connect your PSP to the computer is a very commonly used cable. Instead of telling people to go and buy one, you should suggest that they may already own one for a different use.

Other objects with the same cable include:

-Certain cameras
-All Texas Instruments Graphing Calculators (TI-84 and up)
-Many cingular, verizon, and alltell cellphones (if yours has any way to connect to the computer, the same cable is probably used)

Hey,
My name is nicholas and i have bought a psp about 2 months ago.
If wanting to put music or any other files on the psp the best option is to 'FORMAT' the memory stick, meaning the psp will make the CORRECT folders.
Making the folder 'PSP' then 'MUSIC' will NOT work.

i heard that u can download music straight from the internet broswer from the psp. do you know any websites like that?

Posted by: jon at April 29, 2008 9:11 AM

Putting music on the psp is easy, but you have to put it in the right folder. When you plug your PSP into your computer, you should see a new disk drive appear in My Computer, open up the new drive, and from there, the only difficult part (its not too hard) is locating the folder which contains your music, so when you go into your psp music folder, it will be there.

OK... sorry to bother you but I am having a problem getting the music onto my Playstation Portable. This can clear up some things... I first turned on my psp, went under the home and clicked the usb icon (with the cord), it read fine. Then I Went under Windows media player, clicked synchronize and put songs under the list. The Windows Media Player didn't acknowledge the my PSP in the Windows Media Player, but t did register under my tool bar on my desktop. SO... My problem is that I can't physically put m music from my library on Windows Media Player onto my psp. Help me please!!

Hi ive got the best answer to solve your problem

your problem is how do i download music ?

my answer is go to this link http://www.downloads.nl
click on the wierdly spelled music button and type in your artist then click on the song name what you want and then click download

DO NOT DO THIS ON YOUR COMPUTER

You must do this on your psp browser and it will save the music under music on your psp system.

The site is safe and contains no viruses of any kind so dont be worried about it wrecking your psp system cos it wont.

Thanks and i hope this information comes in handy

if you want to download FREE demos, game trailors, ect WITHOUT USING A PC, go to ur browser on ur psp and put in..... PSPdemocentre, you can download demos from europe, u.s.a. japan, ect. it also gives you links to other free sites like.... psponme.... pspoof, you can even play gemes (but games run slow) try it guys n galls. its the best thing that ever happened tp my psp. lol, have fun!!!!

1 more thing... if you download demos from america, then login as a japenese user, u cant play ur usa demos UNTIL you login as a usa user, and that goes 4 every different country u use, so go 2 PSPdemocentre.... and download as much as u can from there (u can play these no matter what country ur loged in as)... hope u find this usefull... even though i STILL cant download music directly to my psp WITHOUT THE USE OF A P.C. ps its my b/day 10th oct so if n e 1 knows a solution, it will b best prezzie EVER.

I have something to say, now that you mention it, but ...
Starbucks coffee cup I do have a lot to say, and questions of my own for that matter, but first I'd like to say thank you for all your efforts on this Web site by buying you a cup of coffee!

I do have a comment, now that you mention it!
